"Let’s be clear: Manchin’s excuse is bullshit. The people of West Virginia would directly benefit from childcare, pre-Medicare expansion, and long term care, just like Minnesotans.

This is exactly what we warned would happen if we separated Build Back Better from infrastructure."

Aaaand, just like that, the Broad Squad is cornered into a position where it can either be utterly intractable or utterly spineless the next time it decides on brinksmanship as a strategy for advancing the progressive agenda. This means that they can either block the rest of the Dems until the rest of the Dems find a way to render them irrelevant, or they can go along with whatever the other Dems want so that the rest of the Dems can just treat them as though they're irrelevant.

Ilhan, you're right, your little minicaucus shouldn't have ever folded on linking infrastructure to build back redder! Wink

In a “Dear Colleague” letter sent out this morning, Chuck Schumer promised to bring up the BBB despite Manchin’s objections and vote on it “until we get something done.”

The New York Democrat pledged to force a showdown over voting rights legislation – which Manchin has opposed – and threatened to try to change Senate rules on the filibuster. Both Manchin and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) are opposed to any such rule changes, so it won’t pass. But Schumer’s intention apparently is to force them to cast votes anyway.

From the letter:

"[S]enators should be aware that the Senate will, in fact, consider the Build Back Better Act, very early in the new year so that every Member of this body has the opportunity to make their position known on the Senate floor, not just on television. We are going to vote on a revised version of the House-passed Build Back Better Act – and we will keep voting on it until we get something done.

Additionally, please be advised that shortly after the 117th Congress resumes in January, the Senate will consider voting rights legislation, as early as the first week back. Previous attempts to simply debate such legislation have been obstructed by Republican filibusters, effectively defending the voter suppression and election nullification laws passed by so many Republican state legislatures on party lines with simple majorities… If Senate Republicans continue to abuse the filibuster and prevent the body from considering this bill, the Senate will then consider changes to any rules which prevent us from debating and reaching final conclusion on important legislation.”

Members on both sides have spent years bemoaning Senate gridlock, yearning for the Senate to operate as it once did – with Members participating, legislating, debating, publicly choosing a side. That is how the Senate worked before rules were weaponized to allow a minority of Senators to prevent the body from mere consideration of legislation.

The American people also decry this deadlock. I believe our constituents deserve to know which Senators choose to hide behind ill-conceived and abused rules and which Senators prefer to restore Senate floor procedures to better align with the Founders’ intentions. As Former Senator Robert C. Byrd said in 1979, Senate rules that seemed appropriate in the past ‘must be changed to reflect changed circumstances.’ Therefore, as with the BBB, Members will be given the chance to debate on the Senate floor and cast a vote so that their choice on this matter is clear and available for everyone to see.

To further discuss these critical issues, we will hold a virtual Special Caucus on the evening of Tuesday, December 21, the longest night of the year."

Keep on 'projecting' Chuck...The majority of the 'people' are not as stupid as you would like to think, and see right through your partisan theatrical antics, a.k.a. Leftist BullShit!

And, Schumer has NO Clue whatsoever when it comes to the Founders' Intentions!

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAA!!! "It's pregnant with symbolism, it'll highlight the Dems' dedication to principle and eagerness to fight for Dem values, it'll dramatize the most salient national issues and...no one's going to tune in or take anything said seriously!"

I wonder if Vegas is offering over/unders for how many Dem Senators bother to tune in and participate? I'd love to put money on the proposition that they can't get 26 Dem Senators to actually take part.

Biden's Economic Performance Has Proved Unbeatable --- No first-year president going back to Carter comes close to matching the current White House occupant’s No. 1 or No. 2 ranking in each of 10 key measures.

Not all the left. My liberal democrat sister who resides in MD is against BBB and had emailed Manchin asking that he vote against it. She said that she just just him a "thank you" email and asked that I do as well. In her opinion the margin of support by general democrat voters is much lower than the 48 to 1 margin of democrat senators.

So to summarize in layman's terms, another POS liberal got a dog, did nothing with it, it behaved horribly and bit someone, and it was thrown away. Now the White House PR arm has opted for a cuddly puppy replacement for everyone to ooh and ahh over for a while until Commander isn't a puppy anymore and is pawned off to someone else. These dogs are nothing but possessions and advertising tools to this garbage. Hopefully Commander wraps the leash around Joe's legs and sends him head first down the stairs for Air Force One.

DEMs are going after Manchin hard. He and his family live on a boat in the DC harbor. DEM demonstrators have been aggressively badgering them about not supporting the bloated Build Back Better (BBB) bill. A 2 to 5 trillion bill that is full of leftist / socialist wet dreams.

Just one small part of the proposed BBB bill:

The bill also would go a long way toward putting some electric vehicles on level ground with gas-powered cars on price

Experts say that could spur wider adoption of EVs — a key element of President Biden's plan to decarbonize the transportation sector.

the latest version of the bill would provide EV owners:

A credit of up to $7,500 for an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, defined as a car with a battery capacity of at least 40 kilowatt-hours and a gas tank, if any, under 2.5 gallons.

An additional $500 credit for a car with a battery pack made in the U.S.

An additional $4,500 credit for cars assembled at a unionized U.S. plant. (Currently only plants owned by GM, Ford and Stellantis qualify.)

Starting in 2027, only cars assembled in the U.S. that have. a battery of at least 50 kWH would qualify for the base $7,500 credit.

Very few electric cars on the market today would qualify for a full $12,500 credit. One of them is the Chevy Bolt, which is assembled in Michigan's Orion Township and features batteries from a nearby LG facility.

(Production of the Bolt is currently on hold while GM fixes issues with its older Bolt models, which were liable to catch fire.)

The proposed bill also makes it easier to claim an EV credit by allowing dealers to collect it on customers' behalf. That opens the door for car sellers to build in tax sweeteners into a vehicle's sticker price, effectively giving drivers an upfront discount.

xxxxxxxxxxxx

Understand - If someone gets a $ 12,500 credit, that is our tax dollars. There is no "free shit".

The more the left maligns Manchin, the stronger his resolve. Say what you want about him just because he has a D next to his name; he has saved this country from disaster by sinking Biden’s traitorous globalist backed plan. He is a far better man than many of the republican RINO trash that turned on Trump.

Amen to that. If he runs in 2024 he would be hard to beat. Old school Dems are a different breed than "Hey Macarana". And a lot closer to being able to use "some" common sense.

Never know Para, he would bring the semi-sane Dems out to vote that hate what Joe and the current idiots are doing to our country. And a lot of Dems who have jumped to the Republican side would vote for him in droves along with many never trumpers. Of course getting to be the elector for the Dems would be an uphill fight for sure under the current ruling climate.
