PENTAGON: Hello North Korea! We would like you to send our soldier back to us. Please let us know, at your earliest convenience, when YOU can deliver him to Fort Bliss Texas. NORK: No can do, we busy now. Sorry 'bout that. PENTAGON: Oh, Okay. We tried. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

It's sad when any 6 year old dies for any reason. However, I think if it happened to me, my manner of grieving would not be to go out and start beating up South Koreans, then later getting in a beef with South Korean cops and damage their police car. This message has been edited. I'm not at all surprised that his family immediately jumped to making excuses for him. They've almost certainly being doing that his entire life. When someone is raised with their family constantly covering for them, believing that nothing is ever their fault and there's always someone/something else to blame, they tend to grow up to think that their actions have no consequences. And then once they get out into the real world, make a poor decision, and life punches them in the face, they then don't know how to deal with the sudden new reality that their actions DO have consequences. And this tends to lead to doing dumb stuff as a result, like fleeing to North Korea to try to avoid the consequences of their actions.

How about this for a deal: we'll send his paycheck to North Korea for as long as they can prove they still have him. === I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

It's one thing to grieve openly, however we're seeing a generation that thinks and believes, temper tantrums and emotional outbursts, regardless of age, is perfectly normal when dealing with stress. This is a sign of intellectual development problems, emotional immaturity and in some cases, narcissistic personality disorder. We've seen more than enough smartphone videos of young adults, getting confrontational, demonstrative, and violent yet, those closest with them give the reason as having lost someone or, had a tragedy happen? Not sure how violence and outbursts get manifested from trauma but, that's got to be a whole soup of immaturity and stunted development issues.

Sorry, I'm not buying his parents BS that beating the crap out of a couple of South Korean's at night clubs/bars has anything to do with grief. Clearly the military didn't either. I'm a bit tired of every criminal being portrayed as a poor soul dealing with something so we should all be sympathetic. Trust me, there are a LOT of people in this world that are dealing with WAY more that aren't out there committing crimes. If you think I'm buying the family's lame excuses as valid justification for his behavior, you clearly missed the point of my post by a wide mark.

No... my ire was pointed at the family for developing weak excuses for thuggish behavior, not at you for pointing it out I leveraged your post for context. How screwed up are things when North Korea is more believable than the Pentagon? Pentagon disputes Pyongyang’s claim that US soldier Travis King willingly sought 'refuge' in North Korea He was supposed to leave the country, but when left at the airport, he skipped, changed into civilian clothing, joined a tour at the DMZ, then ran into North Korea. He wasn't pushed or thrown or told to run at gunpoint and he wasn't snatched by NK personnel. He entered NK of his own free will. Apparently, there are multiple eye witnesses. But the Pentagon "disputes" this.

The leftists might pay for whatever it takes to have NK let him go, there's precedent.

Except nowadays, "the leftists" is the government, meaning the taxpayers. I agree with downtownv and others, leave him there.

I wonder if he'll have a heavier guard this time for his return to the USA (Kansas).
