I believe it's all about getting the necessary support from the Rinos.

He can't get in there and fight if he doesn't have the votes.

She was told she had to do it for the "sisterhood"... and she's obviously having second thoughts. I still don't think she will actually testify.
Her "second thoughts" likely all revolve around perjury. If she shows up on Thursday with that half ass story she's been peddling, she'll either look like a complete fool, or a liar. The latter obviously carrying with it some nasty consequences.

Can you imagine her refusing to testify because she would be questioned by a female staff attorney rather than the Senators themselves?

Oh, she's GONNA be questions by a female attorney.

Bank on that. None of the R senators will actually question her, other than intros, thanks for coming, and softballs.

All the hard shit will come from a female attorney.

Representing whom? The R or D on the committee? If the D’s have input on this it will be softball.

If Grassley can say (as he consistently has) that a female staff attorney will ask her questions, then he's got the authority or votes or whichever to ensure a female staff attorney will ask her questions.

As for softballs, well, there's two answers to that. One, Grassley wouldn't simply go through the exercise if all the attorney's going to be throwing is softballs. Somewhere in there, she must be able to ask the questions Grassley thinks need asking. Two, the important thing about using a female staff attorney is that there's no way to argue that Ford is being intimidated or bullied by another woman unless the staff attorney goes well and truly overboard.

I was referring to the R Senators. They wont big giving her the hammer questions, it will be a well chosen female staff attorney delivering those.

It's disturbing how some in government have rushed to judgement. Saying they believe her. Saying men should shut up. This is not how our government should work.

This isn't about government (although it should be). This is about politics. And the political line Dems have been pushing since Hill the Pill's days is that all women should be believed and all men should shut up. This is just red meat for the pussy cap brigade.

In fact, think of it as insurance - if a Dem is certain that Kavanaugh will be confirmed and that the Dems will go into the coming election (and future elections!) with that defeat wrapped around their necks, any Dem running for office needs to be able to claim that they "fought". Screaming shibboleths shrilly counts as "fighting" in that context, or at least as far as their core constituents are concerned.

I was only addressing the issue of GOP women staffers questioning Ford, and proposing a viable defense/attack strategy if she opts to bail on Thursday because she couldn't force the GOP senators to question her.

That's just that moron "Mazie" from Hawaii. For your own sanity, I'd recommend ignoring her, as most rational people will.

Mitch McConnell

long, but here is the end:

In the meantime, a good and honorable man and his family are receiving death threats. They are the subject of smears. And are facing Senate Democrats who say he has no presumption of innocence because they don’t agree with his judicial philosophy.

Well, before the week is out, both Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford will testify, under oath, before the Judiciary Committee. Chairman Grassley has made sure the facts will be heard. Judge Kavanaugh and the American people deserve nothing less.

And I want to make it perfectly clear—Judge Kavanaugh will be voted on here on the Senate floor.

Up or down, on the Senate floor, this fine nominee to the Supreme Court will receive a vote in this Senate in the near future.

The general election is November 6, 2018. The Dems want to delay the Kavanaugh confirmation vote until after that election. Let's hypothesize that the Dems succeed in the delay AND win a majority in the senate. The lame duck senate re-convenes Nov. 12 and is off and on until Dec. 14. The new Democrat controlled senate doesn't convene until Jan. 3, 2019. The lame duck Republican senate can confirm Kavanaugh or anyone else Trump sends over in that time period. But: the Supreme Court convenes Oct. 1 with 4+4 justices and sets the calendar. Kennedy is off the Supreme and a new justice isn't supposed to weigh in on any case that has started oral arguments. The meaningful deadline for the Republican senate to confirm Kavanaugh is then Oct. 1, 2018. Get'er done!

As I pointed out a few pages ago, the calendar for court hearings is already set. The new judge will not participate in cases argued before he joins the court. It would be better to start October 1, but not overwhelmingly negative if not.

Justice Gorsuch joined in April and got right to work.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Limbaugh said on his show today several times in fact that Ford will not testify on Thursday and has no intention of ever testifying. I fully agree. What exactly is there to testify to? She doesn't remember where it happened, when it happened, how she got there or how she left.
All she seems to remember is her and Kavanaugh were in a room somewhere, sometime and he tried to raper her.

Oh yeah and the other people who she said were in the room have no recollection of any such party. Sounds a lot like a fuzzy dream.

I really wish someone from the FBI would hold a press conference explaining why they cannot and will not investigate this 36 year old allegation. End all this fist pounding about an FBI investigation.

She spoke to a therapist in 2012. Therapist notes do not mention Kavanaughs name and some of the notes contradict what she's saying now. But Ford says the therapists notes are wrong.

This woman dosen't stand a chance under any level of hard questioning and she knows it.

...but that is exactly how the communists (democrats and more than a few rinos) want our government to work.

Does anyone think Stalin or Mao paid any heed to due process. The (D) takes its cues from them.
