President Donald Trump warned he could deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to U.S. airports if Democrats refuse to sign off on new enforcement measures, as a prolonged government shutdown strains airport security.

"If the Radical Left Democrats don’t immediately sign an agreement to let our Country … be FREE and SAFE again, I will move our brilliant and patriotic ICE Agents to the Airports," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He said ICE would handle security "like no one has ever seen before," including the "immediate arrest of all Illegal Immigrants who have come into our Country."

The warning comes as the Department of Homeland Security shutdown — now more than a month long — has left about 50,000 TSA officers working without pay, fueling staffing shortages and long security lines at airports nationwide.

Because TSA workers are considered essential, they must continue reporting to work despite missing paychecks, leading to increased absenteeism and mounting concerns about security gaps.

Travelers have reported hourslong delays at major airports, while some TSA agents have quit or sought second jobs to make ends meet during the funding lapse.

Trump also pointed to Minnesota in his post, accusing Democrat leaders and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., of supporting policies he said have harmed the state.

"I look forward to seeing ICE in action at our Airports," Trump added.

The standoff in Washington centers on funding for the Department of Homeland Security, with lawmakers deadlocked over immigration enforcement as the shutdown’s impact spreads to critical infrastructure like air travel.

President Donald Trump said that he will be sending Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on Monday to help out Transportation Security Administration personnel in U.S airports.

"On Monday, ICE will be going to airports to help our wonderful TSA Agents who have stayed on the job," he said in a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump had on Saturday threatened to deploy ICE agents to airports on Monday if congressional Democrats do not immediately agree to fund airport safety.

Trump had said Saturday he will order federal immigration officers to take a role in airport security starting Monday unless Democrats agree on a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security.
In a series of social media posts, Trump said he was making plans to put officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in airports if the congressional standoff continues. After the Senate failed to find a resolution at a rare weekend session, Trump appeared resolute in his plan: “ICE is ready to go on Monday,” he said.

Senate confirms Sen. Markwayne Mullin as DHS secretary

The Senate on Monday confirmed Sen. Markwayne Mullin to serve as Secretary of Homeland Security by a vote of 54-45.

Two Democrats -- Sens. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico -- joined Republicans voting to confirm Mullin. Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky voted against the confirmation as he earlier said he would.

The vote came amid backlash over the immigration crackdown and deportations under DHS as well as the ongoing partial shutdown of the department.
