I hit that point way early this morning. I've been erasing nearly all my Facebook footprint I can, since then. (Not continuously. Mostly using automation while I've been doing other things.)

You must have a decent selection of people on your friends list. I got the fucked off Facebook around Inauguration Day. I couldn't take it. I wanted to, and effectively have, shit-canned a big swathe of my "friends." I have re-installed the app on my phone once, just a few weeks ago for a few days because a coworker was doing something on there and wanted me on. I made the mistake of going through my "feed" and wrote off more people.

Good lord....

First off, I believe in freedom, freedom of speech, and even if the speech is abhorrent, this country allows it...

After all, without free speech, how we would we know who the assholes are? Seriously, think about that for a second... If an individual is allowed to spout off whatever bullshit he thinks, he does us all a favor in that we know who to be/not be friends with, and what a person's true colors are.

Beyond that... Both sides here showed up with the intention of getting into an altercation. No reasonable person can deny that.

I think the entire movement to erase history by taking down statues, rename parks is a massive non sequitur and a distraction from any real issue. I've always taken the position, that even if history isn't flattering, it should NEVER be erased, if for no other reason so to not forget it and repeat the same mistakes. Whether we like it or not, it happened, and there is no way to change it, unless someone has invented a time machine and we don't know it yet.

On the one side, we have seen the supposed "tolerant left" show their intolerance over the past 3 years. From tearing up the campus and downtown area of Berkley when a speaker they didn't agree with was invited, to showing up in masks with frozen water bottles, fireworks, improvised explosives, and ready made weapons with the intent of starting violence. If you didn't intend on violence, why in the hell would you bring that type of thing to a "protest?" Yet that side claims the supposed "moral high ground" by stating they are "protesting" against fascism. Bullshit. You're rabble rousing and actively searching for an excuse to riot.

Now the other side, the robe wearing klansmen, or neo-nazi dolts (and there were some of these fucks there, look at the damn pictures)... Fuck those guys too. Judging people based upon race/religion/orientation, or really anything OTHER than your behavior as a person... is simply foolish... There was a time, when assholes like this showed up and everyone ignored them. WHen they didn't get any attention they faded off into obscurity again. Giving these idiots attention makes them stronger. The foolish "antifa" side is actually making the foolish (whatever you want to call these assholes, the actual Nazi's were socialists so politically would be far left too, but with an emphasis on race/religion/ethnicity) idiots more powerful. THIS country is supposed to be better than this. The entire foundation of this Democratic Republic is that we DON'T have to fight out battles, but with reason and discussion, be able to compromise. But there are elements of extreme positions that have decided that isn't an option, and that in and of itself is fucking un-American.

Liberals are blaming President Trump for the rise of white nationalism, but a black professor says the movement started mushrooming 15 years before Trump became president.

Attorney and political scientist Dr. Carol Swain of Vanderbilt University predicted the rise of white nationalism in her 2002 book, “The New White Nationalism in America.”

“The rise of the new white nationalism occurred long before the election of President Donald Trump,” Swain told Fox News anchor Judge Jeanine Pirro.

Dr. Swain underscored that white nationalism is different from the racist white supremacy movement, even though the left-wing media and liberals purposely conflate the two.

“I distinguish it from white supremacy because the people who were involved [in the white nationalism movement] were more intellectual,” said Swain, a graduate of Yale Law School. “They were not espousing racial violence or using epithets, but they had grievances. They felt that white people’s rights were being trampled on and no one was speaking up or listening to their grievances.”




Swain said the white nationalism movement took off — long before Trump took office — because whites were being marginalized and disenfranchised after decades of affirmative action and other government programs designed to benefit minorities.

“At the time, when [whites] were stressing about the racial double standards, I saw the potential for the argument to resonate among young people,” she recalled. “The white community has its own problems. I knew the movement would grow unless we started addressing the issues.”

Swain said we all collectively need to tone down the racial identity politics and racist rhetoric and work together to improve race relations. “We need honest conversations, dialogue where people are listening to one another,” she said.

Indeed. Race couldn't possibly be more irrelevant to 99.9999999999999% of our problems.

This will fall on deaf ears among the leftists and dominant media. It was widely pointed-out that was one of the big reasons Trump won. Even NPR covered it, extensively, at the time.
