I only glimpsed the video as I was leaving this morning. Now that I’m back, clearly the guy jumping from the roof has a long bag and doesn’t have a rifle stuffed in his pants. In one part of the video, I believe I see a guitar shape so maybe it’s a gig bag.

In my mind, the pictures of him descending the stairwell were from before the shooting or directly afterwards, but after ditching the rifle makes sense.

I still don’t believe he ever had the scoped hunting rifle stuffed in his pants, especially now that it looks like he had a bag capable of inconspicuously carrying the rifle.

President Trump Says Charlie Kirk Assassination Suspect in Custody: ‘High Degree of Certainty’

President Donald Trump revealed Friday morning “with a high degree of certainty” the Charlie Kirk assassination suspect is now in police custody.

Free speech advocate Kirk was gunned down as he spoke to a crowd gathered in a courtyard at Utah Valley University in Orem.

AP reports the president made his claim on television, stating “With a high degree of certainty, we have him.”

Trump was speaking in a live interview on Fox News Channel.

Trump said a minister who is also involved with law enforcement turned in the suspect to authorities.

“Somebody that was very close to him said, ‘Hmm, that’s him,’” Trump said.

Thursday morning, Breitbart News reported Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) Commissioner Beau Mason spoke at a press conference and said the suspect shooter “appears to be of college age.”

The news came after it was confirmed the FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information “leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025.”

More to come…

Also, it was just said that Patel will hold a press conference at 9am regarding this suspect.

From one of the many posts I’ve seen:

”Charlie Kirk wasn't killed because he spoke.

He was killed because our children listened.

Think about that.”

Pretty succinct and to the point.

I'm at the point now where if there is no doubt that he committed the murder they should blow the dust off a rack and strap him in. Until consequences become a deterrent those with no morals will not stop.

If they can’t do any better than they have this will be bound to happen over and over. It used to be the fringe leftists that were unhinged enough to do it but after the last couple of days it’s obvious a much bigger percentage than any of us thought.

Without significant resources, you pick and choose what you can cover. You have limited resources, and you lock down roof tops? The shooter just moves to another interior location. Or otherwise creates an urban hide.

People chattering about drone this and that. Ok, two drone teams are a minimum of four more people. Depending on the drone, depending on wind conditions, can only stay airborne 20-40 minutes. So, in order to have constant ISR, you have to time the drones going down to stagger them. And the drone has to be in the right place at the right time.

Fact is, security on a budget is tough. I have significant time doing dignitary protection. And it is labor intensive. I know we want someone to blame, but the chances are they did the best that they could afford. Evil finds a way. They just have to be lucky.

My nephew who is in the military is on a team that provides protection for high value targets in the Middle East. I talked to him yesterday and asked him in general terms how many guys are on the team and he said depending on the threat environment, where they are etc. it starts with at least 8 guys and could be double that depending on the situation, length of visit etc.

As JLJones said above if this was in the private sector it could be very expensive.

Photo of rifle I saw looked like a remington 700. I suppose we will find out in time, if the father did turn him in, and if the rifle was registered to the father and taken by the shooter.

Some of the comments about appropriate discourse have been encouraging, but there are no false illusions to hide under.

From what I gather, just my opinion, he walked to the campus with his rifle stuffed into his pant leg, and a full backpack, no immediate suspicions raised. After the shot, he was seen running across the roof with a longish bag- more conspicuous, but the rifle still hidden- jumping halfway down off the building. Then minutes later, dumping the rifle in the bushes. The bag concealing the rifle was likely hidden in his backpack before, he had no other reason for a stuffed pack on his way to shoot Kirk.

I read the monster's dad and minister turned him in. If I were either one of those two, I'd start carrying a Glock 17 with several backup mags. And practice. A lot.

The person arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, according to the New York Post.

Law enforcement sources described Robinson as a Utah local, according to the report. President Donald Trump announced Friday morning that a suspect has been taken into custody following the killing of Kirk, 31, at Utah Valley University.

Trump did not name the suspect when he revealed news of the arrest on Fox & Friends. “I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody,” Trump said.

Trump said his information was preliminary, but claimed that a minister communicated with the suspect’s father, which in turn led to the suspect being handed to authorities.

“I hope he gets the death penalty,” Trump added.

A law enforcement source told The New York Times that the man who is currently in custody was detained near St. George, Utah, close to Zion National Park, roughly 250 miles southwest of the university campus where Kirk was killed.

Looks like he had great parents and a bright future and has thrown it all away. I really feel sorry for the parents.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...fied-Utah-Trump.html

The alleged killer confessed to his father Matt, who is a a 27-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff's Department, sources told Daily Mail. His father then contacted authorities and secured his son before he could be taken into custody.

His mother, Amber Robinson, works for Intermountain Support Coordination Services, a company contracted by the state of Utah to help disabled people receive care.

Robinson was a student at Utah State University on a scholarship, insiders confirmed to Daily Mail.

About the rifle, what do the experts say?

Back when the rifle was first reported as being found, it was identified as a Mauser. Although the picture is blurry and I can’t be certain, I don’t see the somewhat distinctive Remington 700 type safety lever.

A Mauser Model 98. Here's a photo of one taken off a gun auction site.
