For the last 6 years this type of behavior was not only tolerated, but deemed necessary in fed service.

MTSU assistant dean fired over ‘callous’ comments on Charlie Kirk’s death
Laura Sosh-Lightsy’s comments were brought to Senator Blackburn’s attention, who called for her removal.

https://www.wsmv.com/2025/09/1...charlie-kirks-death/

Sosh-Lightsy’s comments eventually made their way to Senator Marsha Blackburn, who called for her removal.

MTSU then released a statement from the school’s president, Sidney A. McPhee:

“An MTSU employee today offered inappropriate and callous comments on social media concerning the horrific and tragic murder of Charlie Kirk. The comments by this employee, who worked in a position of trust directly with students, were inconsistent with our values and have undermined the university’s credibility and reputation with our students, faculty, staff, and the community at large. This employee has been fired effective immediately.”

President McPhee extended his deepest sympathies to the Kirk family.

I'm thinking four security guards could have prevented this. $100 per hour each for 4 hours = about $1600. Walking the parking garages and scanning the roofs. WTF is wrong with pro security details?

The temptation to paint this in purely a Christian context is a mistake.

Charlie wasn't killed because he was a Christian, he was killed because he was a well-spoken, intelligent conservative. He was unafraid. He wouldn't be silenced. He couldn't be out-debated.

That's why he was assassinated. The Christian white male husband to a beautiful blonde wife and father to a young boy and girl is merely the cherry on top for these people.

The Christian thing is an "also," not the "because." Let's not get it twisted. They'll happily murder Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Atheists, Agnostics, whoever speaks up against leftism. We all get to deal with this, whether you want to view it as picking up your own cross, or not.

I just think it's a mistake to try to frame this thing as a Christian persecution, this is entirely political, and the religious aspects of it are ancillary.

I realize we’re several pages ahead now but I’m just catching up. Smudge, that is well thought out and well put. I agree completely.
Now I’ll edit this before I lock myself into a corner. We do not know the motive for Charlie’s assassin; I’m sure that will come to light in time. I think in general, this animosity is stirred in people too angry and seemingly unable to express their views with words. Like a child who lashes out. So they resort to violence to silence what they do not want to hear. I’m convinced they are too lazy, or at the very least unwilling to try to learn. They will do this to anyone that takes a stance against them. I think being a Christian is just another box that is checked in their selfish adolescent minds.

And she was in charge of student behavior... how does someone that stupid get in a position like that. It's not because they were against the school admin, they were in lockstep. They all need to go

This was the very last podcast that Charlie Kirk was in, that was not his own show.

I didn't follow him; I wasn't his target audience. I have seen a lot of snippets of him. My take is he sees his mission to get young people in colleges to think critically about ideas - the raison d'etre of colleges which they have abandoned for quite some time. He says as much in the program - colleges either indoctrinate you in what to think or train you how to turn a widget.

Charlie Kirk's shows shares WHAT he thinks; this podcast where he is interviewed by a much smaller channel shares HOW he thinks. This podcast was on June 2025 on The Iced Coffee Hour which is a finance-centric channel. It is an hour and 45 minutes long and, interesting for me, in the very end he states what drives him or why he does what he does.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I think we all get that, and NOBODY is challenging that, BUT...

Charlie Kirk wasn't converting people to Christianity, he was converting people to Conservatism...AND that is the reason why he was such a threat to the Left!

Drones are fairly cheap.

His promo team had a drone utilizing it for video of his entrance while tossing hats into the crowd. I saw the tag in the corner of the video indicating it was from Turning Point USA. At the very least it should have been protocol to scan the rooftops first for potential shooters.

Have they said they didn't prior to him coming out to the tent, maybe they did and there was no rooftop threat.

We don't know how long the guy was up there, could have waited until it started.

But agree, if you are a conservative that speaks to crowds in public, be they with you or against you, best use a drone, consistently for security, not just tape for the channell.
