Kirk founded Turning Point USA and grew it to a $85 million political organization in 2023. Among other things they provided a lot of support and did a lot of ground work in helping Trump get elected in 2024. I'm sure it's much larger than $85 million now.
So yes, I think it's valid to compare him to a politician or Microsoft exec from a risk exposure standpoint. I believe the reaction here and in the media would support this view.
As far as a "budget" for adequate security, it wouldn't take a lot of money really. A small staff that coordinated with the venues like the Universities would likely be adequate.
It's clear that for what ever reason that had not happened. In fact I see reports that there was also "zero" metal detectors or screening. This makes even less sense to me than the unsecured roof positions.
It's always a challenge to "prove" the value of Risk Management. If you spend money and are successful you don't always see the savings because the loss did not happen.

Employers are not firing people for dancing on Charlie's grave because they agree with us. I'm sure many HR people agree with the leftists. It's all about liability and damage control

They are firing people because conservatives showed unity with Bud Lite and Cracker Barrel and caused loss of business and drops in stock valuation. They know that pissing off half the country is not good for business.

That and potential prosecution or defunding by the Trump administration for hate speech and terroristic threats.

This morning I thoroughly enjoyed burning a casual relationship to the ground, then dynamiting the ashes, before having the Corp of Engineers haul it off the residue to a toxic waste dump.

I thought this woman was merely a left-of-center.

I discovered she supports those who support Mr. Kirk's murder and those who chose to defame him.

I've had enough. No more verbal restraint.

I openly admit I enjoyed doing it and if confronted by a similar situation will do it again with a smile.
