Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia is also cutting ties with Nike over the Kaepernick ad.

The school president states that "he's "mocking our law enforcement and the military" ...

Well, that is one school I will root for no matter who they are playing or what sport it is.

On the school website the President wrote:

“America has sacrificially given my family the freedoms we enjoy today,” said President Caner. “My wife, who was raised under the oppression of socialistic communism, became a citizen five years ago, joyfully pledging allegiance to these United States and her flag.”

“For Nike to then hire Colin Kaepernick,” added Caner, “a person known for wearing pigs on his socks, mocking law enforcement, kneeling against our flag, and mocking our troops, is reprehensible to my family and to the Truett McConnell family.”

As of the ads public airing, the Truett McConnell President says the university will be “discontinuing our relationship with Nike in athletics and our campus store. Any profits from remaining Nike gear sold through our campus store will be directly donated to Wounded Warriors and the Fraternal Order of Police.”

College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri has done the same earlier in the week.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that “divisive comments… demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL.”

Wow, what arrogance. He's all butt-hurt because people don't 'respect' a game league, yet that same league goes out of its way to show contempt for the people who EARN that respect, namely law enforcement and the military.

It's no surprise that even most die-hard nfl fans, from what I've heard, HATE that guy. My nephew watched the draft last year (before the nfl went full retard) and EVERY time he came out, the crowd boo'd him.

Well, Ford’s off the list along with Nike. Not that there was much chance of me ponying up $50K-70K for one of their aluminum bodied pickup trucks, anyway.

Disregard the meme above. New England Patriots player, Devin McCourty explains that NFL kneelers are "the equality [sic] of what people went through when they were trying to rescue lives (speaking of 9/11 first responders)."

No, really

New Balance Athletics, Inc. (NB), best known as simply New Balance, is an American multinational corporation based in the Boston, Massachusetts area. The company was founded in 1906 as the "New Balance Arch Support Company" and is one of the world's major sports footwear manufacturers.

New Balance maintains a manufacturing presence in the United States, as well as in the United Kingdom for the European market, where they produce some of their most popular models such as the 990 model—in contrast to its competitors, which often manufacture exclusively outside the USA and Europe. As a result, New Balance shoes tend to be more expensive than those of many other manufacturers. To offset this pricing difference, New Balance claims to differentiate their products with technical features, such as blended gel inserts, heel counters and a greater selection of sizes, particularly for very narrow and/or very wide widths. The company has made total profits of approximately $69 billion since 1992.

Last April the BBC screened the last of their fascinating 'Inside the factory' series with Masterchef maven Greg Wallace...

Quote - In the last episode of the series Gregg Wallace joins a human production line in New Balance’s sports shoe factory in Cumbria - the largest in the UK - to see how they produce 3,500 pairs of trainers every 24 hours, by sewing 32 million individual stitches and using 140 miles of thread.

Gregg will make his own pair of shoes and discover how they put together 27 different pieces made from eight different materials, which require auto and manual stitching and finishing with a ‘roughening’ robot and a hot oven. He’ll also meet the man who comes up with new designs, including trainers inspired by the three most popular pub names in England.

I've been wearing NB for over 30 years when I started foot problems. In fact my foot Doctor recommended them.

While rookie quarterback Sam Darnold brought new hope to New York Jets’ fans, a couple of lopsided scores drove Week 1 ratings of “Monday Night Football” to their lowest level since ESPN acquired the NFL package in 2006.

Sunday Night Football’ down
The primetime game, which saw longtime rivals Chicago and Green Bay play at Lambeau Field, drew a 14.4 for NBC. That’s down 9 percent from last year’s 15.8 for Giants vs. Cowboys, and down a bit from 2016, which saw the Patriots at the Cardinals.

Thursday night’s regular-season kickoff, which saw the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles against the Atlanta Falcons, also saw a dip from last year, drawing a 13.4 rating. That game saw a lengthy weather delay because of lightning in Philadelphia and led to a late kickoff.

Actually, the article you referenced is
Ford respects the right of players to protest. Why even get involved in such a volatile subject? Dumb move.

That article is a year old (September 2017).

Ford did weigh in last week and also specifically criticized President Trump's statements on the subject.

https://thegrio.com/2018/09/06...ng-police-brutality/

Ford steps up to support NFL players protesting police brutality

On Monday, the Ford Motor Company, which owns the Detroit Lions, took a stand and pushed back on President Donald Trump’s divisive rhetoric against NFL players who protest.

“We respect individuals’ rights to express their views, even if they are not ones we share,” the company said on Monday. “That’s part of what makes America great.”

The company made the announcement after Trump on Friday urged people to protest the NFL and said owners should fire players who decide to kneel during the national anthem, CNN reports.

Ford has a heavy stake in the NFL with team ownership and last year entered into a three-year agreement making the Ford F-Series the league’s official truck.

The NFL has said it would not penalize players who refuse to take the field during the national anthem.

Martha Firestone Ford, owner and chairwoman of the Detroit Lions and a member of the Ford family, fired back at Trump for his divisive comments.

“Our game has long provided a powerful platform for dialogue and positive change in many communities throughout our nation,” she said. “Negative and disrespectful comments suggesting otherwise are contrary to the founding principles of our country, and we do not support those comments or opinions.”

Ford also owns the naming rights to the Ford Field in Detroit.

Missing the whole point, on Sunday, Trump encouraged fans to protest.

“Sports fans should never condone players that do not stand proud for their National Anthem or their Country,” he tweeted on Sunday.

“If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our country, you will see change take place fast,” he tweeted.

Trump continued his stream of lies saying his constant attacks aren’t racially motivated.

“The issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race. It is about respect for our Country, Flag and National Anthem. NFL must respect this!” Trump said in another tweet.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that “divisive comments… demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL.”

Actually, the article you reference is quoting Ford from a year ago. The same article referenced in this thread before.

I'm sorry--I can't think of a single thing that NFL football has done to make a positive change in a community. A very significant number of its players are thugs in team regalia, with many violations of decent marital and sexual relations, not to mention crime. Give me a break!
