Sorry, guys, I forgot until it was quite dark outside last night. But still, I thought, why not give it a go. So... (My apologies to mobile users, but I didn't want to scale these down or compress them any further.) iPhone 6S: iPhone SE (2020): ![]() Quite a significant difference. I'll try again to remember to take a pair earlier in the evening, so the 6S comes up with something at least marginally useful. "America is at that awkward stage. Just upgraded my daughter's iphone7 to the new iPhone SE 2020 for her 18th birthday. She loves it. Helps that her old real leather case and everything fit on the new phone perfectly. Battery life is significantly improved. Her old phone had a less than 3 month old Apple replaced battery, but the new SE is a good +1/3ish battery life easy. And she definitely would know since she's on that thing 24x7.. Camera is MUCH better too. Everything screams in speed compared to the iphone7 too. I have been an Android guy forever, but I even went to the iPhone 11 this last week. I always went with android in the past because you could get flagship models with better cutting edge hardware for the same prices as Apple's standard models. Doesn't seem the case anymore. With Samsung and others flagship models costing as much or more than Apple's flagship models, why bother with them when I know that within a year or two they will be worth little compared to the same price iPhone. Yeah there's things I like about android OS more than IOS, but I absolutely HATE Android's hardware/OS support (especially longer-term) compared to Apple's. I was also jealous of the fact that old iphones retained their resell value, unlike my year-old top of the line Androids which were worth basically nothing overnight. If none of the Android hardware is going to be really be better anymore (camera quality, screen types, processor speeds, features, HEADPHONE JACK, etc) than Apple's offerings as it was in the past, then the only differentiation left is IOS which while different, isn't that big of a deal to relearn. I still like Android phones and the freedom of OS customization, but economically it didn't make sense anymore if the initial hardware now costs as much or more and doesn't do a thing different or better anymore.

Sorry I missed your question earlier, Helmets are optional here, however I do wear an open face half helmet most of the time and it works. The amazing thing is the phone has unlocked sitting at a light when I pop up the sun glasses and it's in the correct position for face to work anyway. With gloves you can touch the side button and the screen comes up, although it is difficult if not impossible to slide the screen up with them on but I don't always have full finger gloves on, remember it's hot here most of the time.

It turns out the photos I took night-before-last were exactly what had been suggested: At dusk. Turns out "dusk" is defined as that time in the evening just after twilight--while you can still see without the aid of artificial light. And darned if that wasn't the time when I'd taken those. Still, for comparison, here are a couple that were taken mid-twilight, on an overcast and rainy evening: iPhone 6S: iPhone SE (2020): Interestingly: Neither one accurately reflects what the eye sees. What the eye sees falls roughly halfway between the two. Same with the previous set. The SE's ability to accurately pull that much colour out of a scene with so little light rather astonishes me. It's particularly noticeable on the bark of the River Clump Birch on the right, the wood of the right-hand planter on the left, the matte forest green of the patio set, and the ramp for the µBarn. As to battery life: On my first full day, with fairly extensive fiddling with the phone, and about 2-1/2 hours of screen on time, I still had 72% remaining after fifteen (15) hours off the charger. Yesterday, using the phone very little, I still had 83% remaining--also after about fifteen hours off the charger. "America is at that awkward stage. I just did an iperf3 test to my server. Server-to-server (e.g.: Between NAS and server) I can get GigE Ethernet wire speed. The iPhone SE (2020) got 122mb/s average, 145mb/s max to the server. 802.11ac. EnGenius WiFi AP about 25 ft. away. "America is at that awkward stage. Go ahead punk, make my day |
Yeah, I finally caved to the SE after seeing I could sell off my iPhone 6S plus for around $85 (it has a new screen from when the geek squad bungled the battery replacement) and get a 2020 SE for $500 (big memory version) after incentives and stuff from the devil (aka AT&T). I thought about going for a bigger, higher priced model, but figured with the 5G stuff coming out in the next couple years, really don't want to drop $1K on a foooking phone. The 2020 SE gets me what I'm starting to want, being a better camera and faster processor - as the 6S plus ages, those are two things you can't overcome as I compare photos with new iPhones and start to get some 'slowdown' / app glitches from time to time. Still, nearly 5 years on the iPhone 6S Plus ain't too shabby...

Are you military or veteran? Cuz, if so, the 256GB iPhone SE (2020), direct from Apple, with a 6S Plus in good condition for trade-in, would be $444 (less any applicable sales tax). (I found it odd that a 6S Plus had less trade-in value than a 6S.) "America is at that awkward stage. I do not know. That's with Apple's military & veteran's discount. "America is at that awkward stage. For you guys that like smaller phones it looks like the iPhone 12 will accommodate you. They are going back to a design similar to the iPhone 4 with the flat edges metal bumper. They are also introducing a 5.4 inch phone with edge to edge display that is going to be pretty small. Prices are also going down. You can take it with a grain of salt but this appears to be a pretty credible leak ![]() https://www.google.com/amp/s/w...aled-for-every-model _______________________________________________ Use thumb-size bullets to create fist-size holes.

I question the credibility. Won't be wireless charging with aluminium and steel bodies. Chassis, maybe, but not bodies. That being said: I've often wondered why Apple chose to use glass for the backs, rather than carbon fiber. ISTM the latter would be more resilient and lighter. "America is at that awkward stage. I’ve seen it posted on multiple sites from a source that’s rarely wrong. By body I’m sure they do mean chassis. _______________________________________________ Use thumb-size bullets to create fist-size holes.
