We've had both the iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 in my household, and both supprted 3G & 4G LTE....2G, please, you can't be serious!

Oh, by the way, 2G was introduced in 1992 and 4G LTE had widespread availability in the US in 2011.

Does 2G + 3G = 5G? Roll Eyes

You really should’ve quit when you were proven wrong the first time. You went from ‘it’s just an iPhone 8 renamed’ to ‘it doesn’t have any groundbreaking features’ even though it has the latest chip (same as iPhone 11 Pro), an upgraded camera and a sub-400 dollar price.

Some people. Lmao.

I doubt you'll see these for at least 6 months with all the Virus issues, are not the phones assembled and produced in China

Negative. Available 4/24/20 according to Apple.

I hoped it would be face id (no thumb button) so the screen size would be the same but the overall phone would be smaller. That would be a true SE phone. This is just an 8 with new components. No 5G modem either so no interest.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Nope, that's exactly what it is. Yes, Apple updated the internals, but the design (and more importantly all the tooling Apple already had and is totally paid for) is exactly the same as the 6/7. Regardless, this is a good move by Apple, and one that will likely be a winner for them in terms of sales.

There will be a handful of 'Value' phones hitting the market in the coming weeks from OnePlus, Google, and a couple others, so its good to see Apple jumping in and recognizing the demand is there for them too.

OK, it's a renamed iPhone 8 with an A13 processor (vs A11) and an upgraded camera! Roll Eyes

And support for 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE bands the iPhone 8 did not.

I guess your "reasoning" is that, because it has the same overall dimensions as an iPhone 8 it is therefor a renamed iPhone 8?

I guess that means both of them are really renamed iPhone6S', because the physical dimensions are nearly identical and the screen dimensions are identical.

Roll Eyes indeed.
Come on now. Embrace that Apple is expanding their line up to include a very nice value priced option for those customers who've been wishing for one. But the fact is, this new phone is essentially an old design that's been used for like three generations with no 'real' design improvements short of a new chip, camera, and memory. That's not a bad thing for Apple or any of the myriad of folks who are likely to buy one. Hit The Verge, CNET, and a few of the other mobile tech review sites and they'll tell you much the same story.

I saw nowhere suggested by anybody the phone is "groundbreaking." <looks again...> Nope. Not in this thread. Not in the Fox News article. Not in Apple's press release. You're the first one to use the word in reference to this phone.

Which, for Apple, is kind of groundbreaking Wink

I wrote "...for 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE bands the iPhone 8 did not." E.g.: T-Mobile's Band 71 (600Mhz). The iPhone 8 does not support it. The 2020 SE does. There are several other 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE bands the new SE supports that the 8 does not.

We get it. You're not impressed. Fine. But you're making a bit of a fool of yourself--particularly by adding the Roll Eyes to all your gotcha attempts. Perhaps you should quit digging?

I kinda sorta am. I'll have to see real, hands-on reviews, first.

I’ll be upgrading my current SE and wife will upgrade from a 7 when the pre-orders start on Friday. I don’t need or want the newest fastest (priciest) iPhone, but I do want one that will work for a few years. This is exactly what I was hoping it’d be.

I have a 4 year old iphone SE. It is currently running the latest version of software. It has been trouble free still has original battery. And most important it works with my Resound hearing aids.

I will be placing an order for a new iphone SE Friday. I have handled my son's iphone XR. It's just too big for me. I have an ipad for portable internet browsing.

The new SE looks like it will work for me. YMMV.

OK, here's the deal....And I'm NOT gonna do the ridiculous nested quote tree, or endlessly 'nitpick' anything line-by-line to prove to myself that I think I'm right.

However, I NEVER said, the new Apple iPhone SE2 was a bad phone, and did NOT criticize the feature set. PAsig had a valid point that it's basically a renamed iPhone 8, and he really wasn't that far off the mark. When compared to the iPhone 8 the iPhone SE2 has:
- An Identical Form Factor
- Likely the Exact Same Case/Enclosure Components
- An Identical Display
- Likely the Exact Same Battery

Where it differs feature wise:
- An Upgraded Processor (A13 vs A11)
- An Upgraded Camera (Primarily Software Related)

What is 'Ground Breaking' IS the Price....Based on launch price (for both iPhones), it's Half the Cost of the iPhone 8!

This will likely be a VERY successful product for Apple, and they will likely increase their dominant, industry leading market share. It puts them in a position to not only convert Android users, but to also sell new phones to existing Apple customers that would not/could not justify the cost of a $900 or $1000 iPhone!

And all the fanboys will continue to shout down anyone that says anything that they 'judge' to be critical of anything Apple!

I watched that thread. I commented in that thread. I didn't see anybody criticize his decision to abandon Apple for Android. I saw some suggest he stick with Apple, but that's it.

I did see some, including me, try to elicit from him some kind of coherent account of exactly what kinds of problems he was experiencing.
