“Apple has warned all iPhone and iPad users to install the latest updates immediately to safeguard their devices against a critical threat. …” DailyMail article: https://mol.im/a/15419615 Serious about crackers.

It’s always a ‘critical threat’ so why do they screw with everything else at the same time? And what critical threat precisely are they using that as an excuse to screw with everyone’s phone I have the update pending given the previous comments

Here’s their spiel about 26.2, copied and pasted from the Software Update page in Settings from my IPhone: “iOS 26 brings a new design, intelligent experiences, and improvements to the apps you rely on every day. The new design with Liquid Glass brings a more expressive and seamless experience to your Lock Screen and Home Screen, as well as apps, navigation, and controls. Apple Intelligence is integrated into even more places, giving you the ability to learn more about the content on your screen, powering Live Translation features to help you communicate across languages, and unlocking new actions in Shortcuts so you can get more done fast. Updates to Phone and Messages help you stay connected while eliminating distractions like unwanted calls. iOS 26 also brings meaningful enhancements to Camera, Photos, Wallet, CarPlay, and so much more.“ Nothing mentioned about security.

While it's more for targeted attacks, the 2 CVE's it's taking care of are serious bugs. This CVE-2025-14174 is the more serious of the two, basically a bad actor can access the RAM on the device and pull anything from it. the other CVE-2025-43529 is more wide spread and can effectively give you spoofed webpages on demand. _____________________________________________ Proverbs 3:31 "Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways."

It seems to me it would be beneficial to mention the security aspects of updates, in their thumbnail description.

I’m not doing iOS 26 on my personal iPhone, sorry Was forced to update to 26 on my work iPhone and I HATE it. Apple now has suprsssed Microsoft into making interface changes just for change’s sake and the new glassy interface and the way it moves is awful to me. And they radically change icons that you’ve been using for years into something completely different. I’ll keep iOS 18 on this phone (15 Pro Max) until it breaks

YMMV but one should consider security fixes. Real security fixes may be more important than cosmetic dislikes. Unless you don't use your phone for any sensitive transactions / comms. Perhaps I shouldn't, but I use banking and Wallet so I'm sensitive to security fixes. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Mine, for iOS 26.2, says: “This update includes <snip> bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone.” Serious about crackers.

No need to apologize, it's your data, and your risk. I will say, there is no situation where I'd not update as these exploits will be expounded upon by bad actors. _____________________________________________ Proverbs 3:31 "Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways."

Thanks for this information. I did the update. Gonna take some time to get used to it. I wish apple would offer JUST the security update without all the frippery like “liquid glass” and 27 new emojis nobody needs.

18.7.3 has these CVE patched already, it isn’t necessary to take it to 26. -- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. JALLEN 10/18/18 https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...610094844#7610094844

I don't like the liquid glass either. It can be minimized in the Accessibility section of Settings. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Did this update/upgrade to the 26 level system and it's been flawless, nothing exciting to report and the liquid glass isn't an issue, don't even notice it anymore. As VT said, you can turn it off if it bothers you.

I have iOS 26.2 and HATE it too; how do I revert to iOS 18.7.3?

Links to the CVEs are earlier in the thread. Scroll down to Known Affected Software Configurations. The “Up to (excluding)” version is the patched version. -- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. JALLEN 10/18/18 https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...610094844#7610094844
