Latest update 2.3 fixed the RCS messaging issue. I just tested it.

Thanks, para. Informative, though much of it over my head. Still, if he's happy, that's good.

A big Mea Culpa is due here Eek

I got tired of being reminded 27 times a day that iOS 26 was available so I decided to bite the bullet and just go ahead and install it on my iPhone 15 Pro Max.

It’s FINE! Runs and works just great. I really like the new set up with photos and the camera, seems to be much more streamlined and easier to use. Seems nice and fast.

I guess my work iPhone 13 just doesn’t have the horsepower to run it very well, which is what I was basing it off of.

iOS 26.x runs fine on my iPhone 14 Pro. And I’m beginning to like the Liquid Glass look.

I still use a 13. I suppose I can expect better performance when I do upgrade.

And speaking of upgrades, at this point in the cycle of iPhones, is the latest and greatest always the way to go, or would say a 15 or 16 be just fine for many years? And what about capacity? I currently have 256, but with cloud capacity, how much phone capacity do we really need?

Update after a couple weeks in with 15 Pro Max

I'm a little bit concerned/disappointed now as this update seems to be KILLING my battery life and I have a lot of the bells and whistles shut off. Is it all this AI crap on there now?

I used to be able to get through a day on one charge prior to iOS 26.2 but now I'm finding I'm down to 10% or 20% when I used to be way higher.

Anyone else see this and what is the fix, if any?

iOS 26.2

I really haven't noticed it on my 16 Pro Max but it appears to be a thing, found a video on some things you can do to help reduce battery drain.

Reports are it's temporary

iOS 26.2, released in December 2025, may cause temporary battery drain due to background indexing and new, resource-intensive liquid glass animations. While some tests show 10% higher consumption than iOS 26.1, this is generally temporary. Improve battery life by reducing transparency, disabling background app refresh, and updating to the latest 26.3 patch

Facebook app on your phone? I'm sure that's a drain on your battery as it attempts to convert any (all?) activity on your phone into advertising revenue. As I recall you posted about 'going back on facebook' and 'what a mistake it was' during the same time frame that you updated to iOS 26.2 so it 'could' be related. Have you checked the Battery Usage in settings to determine what app(s) are the big drain on your battery?

We recently updated a Iphone 15 Pro Max and 13 Pro Max to IOS 26.3. Location sharing is no longer working. I reset the Location and Privacy settings on one of the phones and it still doesn't work. I will reset the other one this evening and see what happens. As everyone knows, once you reset anything on a IPhone, a boat load of default settings need to be turned off.

Corporate IT didn't say anything about 26.2. However, when 26.3 came out the gave 7 days to upgrade or they'd auto wipe our corporate iPhones. They aren't that heavy handed very often and it had been over a year since the last time.

I upgraded both my business and my personal iPhone to 26.3 and zero issues.

Do they give you the ability to change privacy and location settings, tatortodd?

Yes that seemed to be pulling a lot of battery after checking that. I have an generic account I use for some things on there so I can't nuke the whole thing but I have stopped using my personal one

I did go through and turned off more things like background app refresh for everything but a few apps I use a lot and some other tweaks that were supposed to help.

Starting to wonder if I have a HW issue now though. Battery percentage is 86% left right now, battery was made in July 2024 but I woke up this morning with a full 100% charge as I always charge overnight on my nightstand and by the time I got to work my battery was at 47%.

May have to make a trip to the Apple Store.

Yikes! That is a drain! Like you, I charge overnight using a sleep app at night. Wake up at 100% and currently at 34% with moderate use today.

iPhone 13, three years old.

This is getting weird.

Last night I turned OFF Apple Intelligence and used a different charger

Battery life has been fine now.

So now I have to go back and see what the real culprit was. I suspect it's all this AI "intelligence" shit churning away.

And you would be right.

Not only does it suck energy, it's the needed foundation for building social credit and digital currency. I'm not a fan. For now, I'm able to turn that crap off on my Iphone.

Apple just release IOS 26.3.1. I hope it fixes the location sharing issue that started with 26.3.

***Edited to add***
After updating both phones to IOS 26.3.1, location sharing still didn't work. I then reset privacy and location settings and turned off anything that I didn't need that got re-enabled after the reset. Looks like everything is working now.
