This is no great loss to the conservative movement. In fact it is no loss at all. There will be an interim speaker and business as usual will go on, but hopefully the next permanent GOP speaker will be a true conservative.

Who can get 218 votes?

WASHINGTON DC – Democrats joined with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and his small group of conservative allies to vote to strip Kevin McCarthy of his gavel Tuesday. It’s unclear who would succeed McCarthy long term, though his allies expect he will try to run for speaker again.

Eight Republicans voted against McCarthy: Reps. Eli Crane (Ariz.), Ken Buck (Colo.), Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Matt Rosendale (Mont.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Bob Good (Va.), Nancy Mace (S.C.) and Tim Burchett (Tenn.).

Three House leaders have been floated as potential long-term replacements: Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) and Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.). All three have disavowed any interest in replacing McCarthy — a reality that could change now that the Californian is officially out.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

From FoxNews,
quote:
Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, a former Trump aide who was endorsed by the former president, blasted Gaetz in a post on X on Tuesday, saying, "It says a lot that Matt Gaetz and his small crew of supposed conservatives are speaking from the Democrat side of the House chamber."

What a scumbag snake. The reason Gaetz had to speak from the Dem side is because the slime balls on the GOP had swiped all the microphones on their side. I so despise all these deceiving sons of bitches.

Take out the trash. The National GOP needs to get on board or get fucked. I’m sick of RINOs and their “go along to get along” spineless bullshit. The choices are represent the people or represent the uniparty.

That's my concern. What is Goetz plan now? Who will step up and lead? No one wanted the job back in January. Who wants it now?

Frankly I think Geatz is spot on here:

https://www.thegatewaypundit.c...ng-bandaid-get-back/

Rep. Matt Gaetz spoke with with reporters following the vote in the House of Representatives.

Matt Gaetz: It’s a benefit to this country that we have a better Speaker of the House than Kevin McCarthy. Kevin McCarthy couldn’t keep his word. He made an agreement in January regarding the way Washington would work, and he violated that agreement. We are $33 trillion in debt. We are facing $2.2 trillion annual deficits. We face a de dollarization globally that will crush Americans, working class Americans. Kevin McCarthy is a feature of the swamp. He has risen to power by collecting special interest money and redistributing that money in exchange for favors. We are breaking the fever now, and we should elect a speaker who’s better…

The stages of grief, I think, are in progress right now with some of my colleagues. I think there was a stage of denial, and I’ve certainly experienced a good amount of their anger. And now we appear to be headed toward bargaining. I think the world of Steve Scalise, I think he’d make a phenomenal Speaker…

I don’t think we will. I think Kevin McCarthy should take a hint after 15 ballots to become speaker, after eight months of a failed Speakership, and after removal in this historic manner, I think we should move on and find somebody else. What’s paralyzed the House of Representatives has been the failure of Speaker McCarthy. What paralyzed the House of Representatives was not taking up appropriations bills. We left for a six week vacation while the appropriations process hung in the balance. And because I forced these people to take a few votes, you think I’m paralyzing the House of Representatives? I think the House of Representatives has been paralyzed for the last several decades as we’ve refused to pass a budget and as we’ve governed by continuing resolution and omnibus bill. So I think that this represents the ripping off of the Band Aid. And that’s what we need to do to get back on track.

Then, by God, the uniparty politicians need to get on his "team".

The American people are sick and damned tired of the BS way the country is being run and have had enough.

McCarthy is a wishy-washy uniparty liar who did not keep his word and now he's out on his ass. Good! That's where he belongs and he has nobody to blame but himself.

Keep up the good work Representative Gaetz. You're one of the few patriots who just might save this country.

Your guy Rosendale, Senator from the Great State of Montana, is a standing in the breach along side him, and a worthy Patriot as well. Cool

Anyone seen Boebert, or is she not seeking any undue attention right now... Wink

Unfortunately, the U. S. Government is designed to function on compromise. With 212 Democrats in the House, the Majority will need to reach some kind of compromise with them eventually.

McCarthy didn’t inspire much confidence in anyone in either party. It was impossible to deal with him because he had been essentially neutered by Gaetz, et.al. But who does?

They’d better come up with an answer quickly. It reminds me of my favorite line from The Hunt for Red October: “Alright Ryan, we just unzipped our fly.”

It's one thing to remove McCarthy but there's better be a plan B that doesn't involve Dem support and concessions. You know they are working hard to offer support for things.

Are you ok with McCarthy breaking the promises he made to receive the speaker endorsement?

I don't understand your viewpoint. I think accountability is good. He made promises, he broke them. Now he is held accountable.

What is interesting is that the media is reporting "the Freedom Caucus ousted McCarthy", a complete fabrication. Yes, Gaetz, Rosendale, Biggs, Buck, are Freedom Caucus members, but there are approx. 40 other members who did not vote to oust McCarthy, including conservatives such as Jim Jordan, Scott Perry, Byron Donalds, Anna Luna, Randy Weber, etc. And nobody can call these people RINOs.

The irony is that Gaetz had to work with Democrats to oust McCarthy because he was colluding with Dems. I read Sheila Jackson Lee walked up to Gaetz after the vote and shook his hand. We'll see who they can come up with that can be elected SOTH, and not be a RINO. This will be interesting at the least...

Since the Speakership can be someone other than a Congress member. I would love to see someone like Victor Davis Hanson in this position.

He is not corrupted by the stench of D.C. He truly loves America and is articulate enough to appeal to the moderate dems and independent voters.
