I agree. If nothing else, it allowed the shit to float and be seen in those 20 some people who didn’t vote for Jordan.

We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. It’s hardly a compliment and no disrespect towards you when I say you’re an Einstein compared to the GOP Congress turds. How this is not obvious to the whole lot of them says they want to keep their piece of the pie without regard to their constituents.

It wasn't me that said it but earlier in this thread someone else said it's great to have all these fantastic plays but unless you have the personnel to run them, you have jack shit.

We have jack shit.

Doing these repeated nominations isn't moving the House towards a Speaker and everything sits.

They don't have much choice other than someone who isn't overly conservative on all issues. They have to get things through the Senate and the WH too. If they win the Senate and WH back, they can pass whatever conservative stuff they like but oh yeah, they had control of all those from 2016 to 2018 and got no shit done.

Just relax.

You want inaction? We've got that by the trainloads. I support the removal of McCarthy. It took everyone by surprise- first, that it was voted on at all, and then, that it succeeded. This gives that august body food for thought, and that is something they need.

Let's hold off on the wailing and self-flagellation until we see where we land.

Emmer Drops Out Of House Speaker Race

https://www.zerohedge.com/poli...ouse-speaker-nominee

Emmer's withdrawal after a group of Republicans made clear they wouldn't back him on the House floor. The move also come after former President Trump called Emmer a "RINO," and said that voting for him "would be a tragic mistake."

With all these goings-on, they can't pass and send that $100 billion to Ukraine or "humanitarian aid" to Gaza. You know damned well that will be siphoned off anyway. I'm not seeing a problem.

That also means they don't have the money to pay the salaries of the military, among other programs that neither side has much disagreement with, starting on Nov 18.

The past three weeks of inactivity by Congress is proof that they do more harm than good. The longer they are inactive, the better. Maybe we could make it permanent by only having them in session for a few weeks a year. Make it a part time job with half the pay.

Are you certain that's true? I thought many budgetary aspects, including military salaries, were protected.

It's my understanding that they, along with quite few other employees, will still be required to report to work and do their jobs but they will not be paid until money is appropriated.

That may be true, but the military gets paid on the 1st and the 15th, so a shutdown on the 18th won't really keep them from getting a check until 12/1.

Mike Johnson apparently just got the nod. I really don't know much about him. Let's see if he has the votes.
