Not looking good for McCarthy, thank God.

He lost seven Republicans so far; it will take the Democrats to save him now.

Good! Burn it down.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Matt Gaetz Gives Press Conference on Capitol Steps

The DC media chased Matt Gaetz after the representative from Florida filed a motion to vacate Kevin McCarthy from the speakership. WATCH:

So. Now what. Give the gavel back to the dems?

No good will come from this. Franklin was right. "We must all hang together, or assuredly, we shall all hang separately."

All Gaetz and his mouse brained coterie of angry idiots has done is empowered Hakeem Jeffries to either become speaker, in which case all arms of the government are in dem hands, or give him a better hand to drive a bargain with who ever is willing to be speaker of a caucus that has assholes like Gaetz in it.

Politics at the national level is a team sport. When you are already in the minority, and thus don't get to drive the bus, you sure as hell don't let a minority of your own team kamikaze that bus, and that is what Gaetz has done.

I know my opinion isn't popular here among the burn it down crowd, but what, exactly, is the plan?

The country needs a functioning government, and this is third world failed state bullshit.

All of a sudden, the dems get to look like the adults in the room, who are capable of running a country, and the republicans look like a bunch of angry toddlers throwing toys out of the pram.

"I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation."

No, now they put in someone with actual conservative values. Who will actually try to get spending under control, secure the border, and uphold the constitution.

McCarthy showed his colors, and got his swamp as flushed.

Then, by God, the uniparty politicians need to get on his "team".

The American people are sick and damned tired of the BS way the country is being run and have had enough.

McCarthy is a wishy-washy uniparty liar who did not keep his word and now he's out on his ass. Good! That's where he belongs and he has nobody to blame but himself.

Keep up the good work Representative Gaetz. You're one of the few patriots who just might save this country.

Interesting to see how this is playing out in the media.
True Conservatives are rejoicing for better leadership as the rest of the world seems just to blame the entire GOP as hapless and out of sync.
But it is true we have seriously worse Speakers but is that the standard we desire?

After eight tumultuous months of pandering and lies, Kevin McCarthy has been removed as Speaker of the House for the first time in US history. The side deal with the Democrats on Ukraine was the final straw.

The final vote was 216-210.

I was no fan of McCarthy when he ran for Speaker and was disappointed President Trump supported him.

I hope we will do better in the future. Republicans are still in the majority, though it is, as always pointed out by the media, a slim one.

Who can get 218 votes?

Dems won't support anyone so who do the Repubs put up that is different than McCarthy that will get the votes?

It's one thing to remove McCarthy but there's better be a plan B that doesn't involve Dem support and concessions. You know they are working hard to offer support for things.
