I bought a new house 2 years ago and it's been the dream neighborhood. Kids out playing on the street. Small town outside the city. Recently the neighborhood has been on edge. A mom and her mentally disturbed 20-something son moved in about 4 months ago (renters). The kid is whacko. Apparently, he's been yelling at the kids in the neighborhood "STAY AWAY FROM MY CAR!" "YOU'RE TRESPASSING!" "STOP PLAYING BETWEEN THE HOUSES!"... His next door neighbors are harmless and are Indian (from India). The wife told me yesterday she's afraid to come out of her house and that he's egged her dining room window before. He yells at them when they mow their yard that they're disturbing his peace. The other day he chased some little kids (4 to 6 years old) down the street and was recording them on his tablet. Their dad (A large statured man, not fat) went to talk to him and the guys' mother was almost equally aggressive and protective. Soon after, some moms were out talking about it and he comes out on his yard with his tablet and starts recording them. The moms start recording back. Things are getting weird. He's called the police and reported the kids as trespassing and the moms have called the police to report his aggressive behavior. I'm working with another neighbor who happens to be a LEO and we're formulating a plan on how to handle the problem. We're going to get the parents together soon to get us all on the same page on how to proceed with this guy. The HOA has already received complaints but says now its beyond that and now a cvil matter. All the kids have a cutoff in the neighborhood and they can't play past a certain person's house. That's pathetic. This has been a great neighborhood and now none of the kids are playing outside because of this idiot. My wife said she finally saw him today and she said he looks like he escaped from a mental institution. I've got to get all the parents together and tell them to individually file police reports. We're going to get all he affected parties involved and have them write a complaint to the landlord. Luckily, for me, my kid has not been involved in anything yet. Tony.This message has been edited. I dont know how effective it may be for you, but it worked for me in the past: Go after the landlord. At the very least, he needs know who he rented to. This is the key. In the end, the landlord is the only person that can resolve this situation. If you and your neighbors file enough police reports, and the renter's son is documented as threatening children in the neighborhood, you can ramp up pressure on the landlord that god forbid something happens to a kid, he could suffer a lawsuit for being negligent and perpetuating a known problem. I am sure there are some renter protection laws in place that would prevent the landlord from kicking them out based on what has happened thus far. He can't kick them out for being mentally ill, an asshole, or just weird. I don't know about this. If the kid commits an assault on one of the neighborhood kids while standing on the landlord's property, I would think as the owner of the property he would shoulder some potential liability for the behavior of his renter(s), especially if numerous complaints have been filed with the police noting aggressive or combative behavior. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. This, call the police on him, have as many neighbors as possible call the Landlord. A Landlord cannot just evict a tenant without proof, nor does the landlord know what's going on there. So a few police reports (in writing) and phone calls to the landlord and forwarding the police reports to the landlord, should achieve the desired result in getting them kicked out. Check the tenant laws in your state, but a few police reports of aggressive behavior to the neighbors should be plenty for a landlord to evict. What State are you in? | |||

It wasn’t a crazy neighbor situation but instead it was a party 24/7/365 situation complete with using a car in front yard for stereo whether party was indoor or outdoor. My friend worked with the police to catch them in the act several times (they had a police scanner apparently) and collected the police reports. My friend’s employer provided 2 hours of attorney time free of charge per year so she got the attorney to write a nastygram to landlord with police reports attached. Shitbags were given eviction papers within the week and were moved out shortly after. The good thing is your LEO neighbor as well as other authorities.... might have to move slow... but I bet they will move. Both the law and the renters.... If the guy commits an assault on the kid then that's criminal. Need a cop. If a tenant violates a lease it's the landlord's problem.
