I suppose subtlety just isn't for everyone. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. To me a company is measured by how they handle the inevitable problem. A local off road store here just backed up something they sold me for my jeep and said they’d deal with the company that made it. They’ve got my business going forward. Sounds like Speed Queen is handling this just perfect. Our SQ has been great and I just recommended it to my neighbor.

I bought a Speed Queen 9 years ago based on member advice here and they were right. This machine takes everything I throw at it - including King size comforters. I couldn't be more pleased. BUT if I did have issues with the washer, I'd never think of blaming the advice of SIGforum members. Any major purchase I make, I look to membership for their advice. __________________ Member NRA Member NYSRPA

Yes, it's childish and RUDE behavior.

My recommendation for your next washer is to buy the cheapest one you can find. Perhaps a second-hand (or third) one from a used appliance or thrift store. That way you're less likely to suffer the apparently crushing burden of disappointment that most adults cope with as a part of life and move on but that apparently triggers neurodivergence with you. OP, that’s good they took it back. I’m still used to the old customer service from back in the day, which I use as a reference. Other than not being timely about it, it is about as good of a CS experience as I can expect nowadays. Good luck with your future appliance purchase. Retired Texas Lawman

In addition to rude, add stupid. I have the top model of Speed Queen. No more out-of -balance bumping around. Throw in clothes. Throw in detergent ( liquid). Close lid. Push appropriate buttons . Voila! No work involved except moving clean clothes to dryer . One day that also will be a Speed Queen.

What was the actual problem with the unit? Do you know yet? Will be curious to find out the cause. NRA Benefactor Life Member

Sure, as long as you don't mind them coming out in little shreds. They'll be clean shreds though.

My guess, if the washer is brand new and installed correctly, is a faulty or incorrectly engaged lid switch. If the lid is not closed properly or the switch is not depressed/engaged, the unit will not operate, this is a safety feature built into the machine. I agree you shouldn't but the only way you're going to get the washer up and running is to get a repairman out to look at it, determine the problem and fix replace the unit. Speed Queen warranties the washer not the store so you're issue is with speed queen.

There's a Speed Queen washer and dryer in the basement of my apartment building since I moved there in 1997. No issues in 29 years. And I missed another tantrum! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Yidn, shreibt un fershreibt" "The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. I suspect you'll get to see more when he pops back in to tell what was wrong and offer up an apology along the lines of "I'm sorry that you were offended", sort of like a pro athlete does so well.
