Not to distract from the amazing sandwich in Sicily, I'm starting our own sammich thread of your local or even your own personal masterpieces. Everyone loves sammiches! Let's seem them! Here where I work, nearby is Baldino's Jersey Subs. The closest I can get to an authentic deli sandwich. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

As much as I would LOVE for them to have a place close to me, it's probably best that it was just the Cousin's food truck that was in town a couple weeks ago! “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

Dang great looking yummer sandwiches ... all of them ! I remember falling in love with sandwiches and a beer when reading the book "The First Deadly Sin" by Lawrence Sanders where the main character Edward X Delaney ate sandwiches drinking a beer. Never had a lobster sandwich ... definitely on my bucket list. Can't believe I never had one while I was stationed in the Coast Guard at Yorktown, Virginia.

Hot buttered lobster roll in the split-top bun, HOT DAMN do I miss those things. Best one I ever had was on a cold windy day at Martha's Vineyard with a Nastygansett to wash it all down.

It is good but has a become a pain in the ass lately, worker shortage I usually get there about 1130 and it takes 10-15 minutes where it used to take less than 5. Don't even attempt after 12

It's all part of the adventure... |
Here in Tucson we have a local chain called Eegee’s. They make some damn tasty sandwiches, and they have their signature slushee drinks (“Eegee’s”). Their crinkle-cut fries and house-made ranch dressing are the best. Sorry, no pix. Just picture a sub sandwich. We also have Jersey Mike’s, Jimmy John’s, and Subway. I love the Jersey Mike’s #7 on wheat, Mike’s Way minus onion and add pickles. Great looking sub. But throw out that Karbach. It is just Budweiser. Get a real local brew from St. Arnolds or Southern Star. I have no photos, but you can a lot of very good brisket sandwiches here, seafood po-boys, and, oddly enough, one really good Jewish deli called Kenny and Ziggy's where they make their own pastrami and corned beef The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Don’t have a pic but my take on a grilled cheese is a good grainy Dijon mustard spread on slices of you’re favorite bread thin sliced pieces of granny Smith apples, bacon and slices of the best sharp cheddar cheese you can find. Grill the same as you would a grilled cheese. Guaranteed! "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

Yeah, I know they sold out a few years ago but I think the Hopadillo was out before they sold their soul to AB. Being a Hophead I've been drinking it for years but I also drink the Art Car IPA from St. Arnolds - been to both breweries. PS... Kenny & Ziggy's is incredible.

Hopadillo is one of Karbach's old brews, but still - it is Budweiser. And I don't know if it is the same brew as before. Some think that Karbach's Love Street is actually and literally Bud now. Exactly the same brew in a Karbach can. I haven't had a Love Street in a long time, but I did taste one post the sale to AB, it as I remember, it was clearly not the same as the actual Karbach Love Street. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Am I the only one who thinks if the sammich isn't steamed it isn't a proper sub? That's what I grew up with in Chattanooga and Knoxville. Hard to find these days...

Now, THAT'S my kind of sandwich! I don't have a photo, but one of my favorites in this area is a foot-long tuna from Potbelly. They use sandwich rolls in several wheats, toast them in an oven before loading them with the goodies. They are very filling and tasty. flashguyThis message has been edited.
