I think all you'll are getting ahead of this based on pure emotion. The Bronco may indeed be the shiznit, but right now its a completely untested, unproven, commodity. You're licking your lips based on Ford's snazzy promotional vids, which are great, but which mean little to nothing without a bunch of Bronco's being handed over to a dozen or so independent testers for feedback. One thing is absolutely true, real competition would be great for the consumer as it would drive both companies to continually hone their product.

Something else that's not being discussed is will the Bronco cannibalize either F150 or Ranger sales as people opt for the new Bronco. That should be an interesting dynamic to watch for as the Bronco becomes available.

Excellent points Bigdeal. It's based on an existing but recent platform. There will most likely be problems with them early on, most of which should be remedied by the third production year. Hopefully the early issues are minor ones.

My biggest complaint is the engine choices. While I would have preferred a V8 I would have been ok if the 3.5L Ecoboost from my Raptor was an option. Especially with the 35” tires on the Sasquatch package I think it needs more power. There are lots of things to love about the new bronco from what I’ve seen but with Jeep now offering a V8 option in the Wrangler I do believe that Ford is going to have to up their engine game with the bronco.

Yea, it would be nice to see the coyote engine in there with that manual tranny. If I had the money and the inclination, that's what I'd do.

I wonder how much torque that transmission can take...

As far as QC goes the bar isn’t really that high for Ford. Jeep is not a company that comes to mind when I think of vehicles that are well built, reliable and trouble free. Sadly Jeep has always had shittastic parent companies with lack luster QC.

As a two time JK owner, instead of lack luster QC I would rather say it has lots of character. And it does but it has been alot of fun.

That being said, I really like what I see from the Bronco but will wait until I can put my hands on one.

I’m glad they went with a turbo 4. The 2dr version is most appealing to me and I’d rather save weight. The 4 cylinder Wrangler I took all over OBX did just fine. A modern turbo 4 should do great in the sand.

Hey the V8 is a favorite, however remember the 2.7 is putting out 310 HP, the 4cyl, 270, it's not like it's the 80's where you get 78 HP from a normally aspirated iron duke 4.

The EcoBoost engines are well made, reliable and powerful, and a simple plug in programmer will release additional power.

Most of these will see speed bumps as the largest obstacle in their lives, maybe some beach driving even though they have plenty of OR built in features.

Get some on the road, get a following and then probably a v8/Raptor model will be coming out.

I live on the Western Shores of the Rocky Mtns. I have wore out and destroyed all manner of Off Road 4X4s. The little Ford tin cans of the 1960s, Broncos were sick ponies. In the end we come back to "Jeep Guts".

Having wheeled extensively in the White Mountains, Appalachian Mountains, and the Mogollon Rim area, I'd opt for the four banger and manual trans. The most capable off road machine I think I've ever been in was a 80s forerunner with removable top, four cylinder, and manual. I've found the high horsepower machines best suited for mud bogs and insanely steep sandy dunes like what you find in Glamis.

Make mine a black base model with the Sasquatch package please.

Have you looked at the new Bronco Sport? Not 2wd but I think it's AWD instead of the Bronco's 4wd. I hope when you say you want a column shifter it's for an automatic because manipulating a 7-speed column shifter sounds awkward. I'll say the thing I hated most on our 1971 Bronco was the 3-speed column shift. The linkage that went down the steering column, made a couple turns, then back to the transmission had all kinds of flex, felt like it was made from coat hanger wire. My father eventually took the whole thing out and installed a Hurst floor shifter between the bucket seats.

For the people putting down deposits have you already negotiated your buying price and fees with your dealer?
