Page late and a dollar short |
This comes from a Wrangler owner. Whatever your opinion of the new Bronco, it's still a helluva lot better than that POS Blazer. 2012 we replaced both our GM vehicles. Working in a GM dealer one of the guys in parts made a joke to our factory rep about how I "defected" to the dark side. He asked me why I didn't buy GM, I told him that they did not make a product that I wanted and would meet our needs. He then said "GM is making a new midsize 4wd and once you see it you will want one." I saw one about two years later, manufacturer plates, in a grocery store parking lot. I looked it over and waited for the driver to come out and engage him in conversation wanting as much information as I could get. All he said it was under consideration for US release, this version was to be for the southeast Asian market. GM did ultimately offer it in Thailand, us not so lucky. We got another fwd or awd minivan and midsized pickup, they got the good stuff overseas. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. Patriot , id say it’s more like if Toyota had brought back 3 different versions of the FJ at the same time. I think Ford was smart to offer this is a way that will allow it to appeal to the maximum number of potential buyers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
I bought a 2019 Ranger back in September, interested in the Bronco but it will be a few years. After looking at the online brochure, I think I would be interested in the "Badlands" version w/2.7L w/10spd AT. Not an "Off Roader", but I do like to get up in the woods and forest service roads so would be a good vehicle for that as well as a good nature photography platform with the removable roof. Interesting that with all the hardcore OR folks interest in manual transmission that the top two trim levels (Wildtrack/First Edition) ONLY have the 2.7L AT as a powertrain option Will check them out once they hit the dealers, but a few years out before I would be considering buying. For those wanted larger engine, the 2.7L is ONLY avail with the AT as well. If you want MT it is going to be a smaller engine and lower trim. Personally, I would never go back to manual transmission. My 2017 Mustang has the 5.0L with 6 spd AT, my 2019 Ranger has the 2.3L Turbo w/10 spd AT. Both are a pleasure to drive and in the "Sport" modes you can manually shift to your hearts content.
According to the website, a reservation puts you in line to order. Orders taken later this year (Nov?) for spring 2021 production. Production in order reserved based on model availability. No vehicles avail to dealer stock until all reserved orders are completed. Pricing negotiated with chosen dealer. Limit of two reservations per Ford Account $100 deposit refundable with cancellation Reservation not transferrable I doubt there will be any deals on these and will probably all go over MSRP until the excitement dies down. I would also expect that savvy dealers will get shills to make reservations and "order" so they can get stock on the floor to sell to John Q Public from the get go (at a premium to be sure). A LOT of hype, a vehicle I might be interested in but not clamoring for. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 911Boss, What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

I asked a local dealer if they planned to add a dealer markup over the Ford MSRP. I more less got a no response- basically saying they will sell them for what the market will accept. My interpretation is to expect to pay over the MSRP. Has anyone heard different?

I agree with you...my comment was a ribbing joke. The issue I see is new management comes in and kills it because it’s not Fords niche. Whereas Jeep is a true 100% off-road brand. Ford will need to stick to this thru thick and thin...and most modern companies don’t. First sign of trouble, they cut and run. _____________________________ Pledge allegiance or pack your bag! We have a one price dealer in our market and they are known for not jacking up prices, no "dealer fees" and BS, the auto dealer select picked the worst dealer in the area, so I changed my location zip to be the dealer I prefered zip code and it assigned me to them. It's nothing more than a placeholder, and I get asking for $100 so you don't get 5 million leads of people that are not really interested or are Jeep owners fucking with Fords reservation system. The price is the price, you can always walk away...

If I gaze into my crystal ball, my guess would be you're talking about Mullinax Ford. If I'm right, you can bank on paying a nice premium over MSRP for whatever Bronco version you opt to chase. Ford has hyped the hell out of this thing and as can be seen in this very thread, there will be more demand than supply when this thing hits dealerships. As such, I'd expect both dealerships and FMC are going to cash in on this one while they can. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. No matter who brings it out, MORE choices to any market is a good thing in my opinion. Makes the others have to up their game. The new Bronco certainly has to excite the off road crowd. I'm not a Ford buyer per se. I have owned a few F-150's ,one a true lemon law turn in, the other solid as a rock. Currently looking for a mid sized 4x4 probably getting a Chev Colorado. My 17 Camaro SS was issue free, with decent interior QC. So I'll give Chevy another go. I looked at the Ford Ranger, Tacomas, the Nissan offering and even GMC Canyons. The Colorados appealed the most.

/\ I just sold our Highlander to a friend in need of reliable transport and it's got me looking. Love the steelies on that model.
this. my buddy has a house 4mi up the beach in Corolla and he had a lifted 2WD prerunner style 80's Toyota on 35's with a four cylinder motor that he'd stage for me at the Kroger near pavement's end. I'd park my car, swap to the truck and head out to his place. Did great pretty much all over...stay out of the deep sugar of course which is good advice for any 4WD unless you've got a friend along with recovery gear.

come and take it |
I want one. I think Ford is going to sell a ton of them. I was just watching a Doug DeMuro video and he was saying how bad Chevy missed the boat bringing back the Blazer. I am somewhat of a car guy and I didn't even know Chevy was making a Blazer anymor. I looked it up and know I know why, it is a generic SUV. I didn't put myself on the reservation list, as I don't need a new car next year, but the Bronco will likely be my next car. I have a few SIGs.

I was thinking the same thing about the Blazer. Chevy already had a 5 seat generic suv, how many of those do you need? Why not make something people are excited about? They missed a big opportunity. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

I can foresee some $100 deposit people getting the call to come pick up their new Bronco. They arrive to find the papers filled in with $2,000 extra fees, paint sealant, doc, adjusted market bump, etc. Either pay all that or the dealer simply refunds their $100 and puts it on the lot. Yamaha recently did the same thing with the introduction of the Tenere' 700 (only it was $150 deposit). Turned into somewhat of a shit show. Perhaps, again the deposit is fully refundable, no commitment and you can back out for any reason, price, product, it's raining, doesn't matter. They can ask whatever they want, if it's over MSRP, just walk. You're not going to go in and get an under cost deal on these for the first year, just like the 2020 corvette, GM doesn't allow markup stickers, but dealers are not discounting, they dont have to... Thats the way supply and demand works... who wouldn't cash in on a hot item they sell.
