quote:
“Parents say a brief good-bye and depart”

I remember that day well.
Seems like yesterday...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

That sounds great. Cngratulations.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Awesome!
That was one of my proudest days as a parent.
Be proud, be happy.

Congrats! What an accomplishment. As we are starting to look at what we will still have to pay even if our daughter gets a full scholarship, I can’t imagine the cost for any of the military academies. I went to a Military College, University of North Georgia and it was so affordable in the 90’s. Wish you guys all the best.

Keeping the thread alive. Mostly for my mental well being and anticipating stresses of Plebe summer and year to vent or be proud

Step Daughter reports I- Day -2 next Tuesday (prep school kids who are technically active duty go to the yard 2 days early. Pretty much they are the detailers (trainers, “Drill sgts”) guinea pigs a day prior to the wide eye Directs show up on I-DAY for next 6 weeks

I’m OK. Read and listened to too many aspects as a parent on how to deal with a Plebes reactions and my emotions

I’ll not be there for I-Day (her mother will). I’ll be at Plebe Parents weekend in August

This process may lead to my divorce. Hope not. But that’s a different story
