The other nice thing about NAPS is that it relatively speaking made Plebe year a lot easier. Still sucked but nowhere near as much. You can only be shocked out of your comfort zone so many times. Lol. I hated being at the Academy. The old saying though is that it’s a shitty place to be but a great place to be from. In my experience that is a true statement. (and I did have a lot of fun there, it’s not college college though)

And a different admissions process. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. It is the crucial test. None but the humane treat a cat well.” -- Mark Twain, 1902

Do No Harm, Do Know Harm |
That is awesome. My childhood dream was to attend the Naval Academy. Every step I took was towards that end. I was selected for their summer program, which was almost a guarantee to get in, I was told. Had a blast. But I had been in trouble at 14 with the law and it kept me from getting accepted. Crushed my soul. I was given a Navy ROTC scholarship however, and attended Virginia Military Institute. But my heart was not in it and after I finished my rat/freshman year and flunked calculus, twice, (and some other stuff) my GPA was too low to retain my scholarship. I just didn’t want to be there vs the USNA and lost focus. It all worked out in the end, but looking back I always wonder. I think NAPS is a solid choice, best of luck to her! Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard. -JALLEN "All I need is a WAR ON DRUGS reference and I got myself a police thread BINGO." -jljones

DoDMERB flagged her for a knee tendon issue from 3 yrs ago (D224.90) yesterday USNA has initiated waiver process this morning Hopefully they will expedite. She’s a basket case now. What I’ve not relayed to her is her plan B school with ROTC scholarship will also need to get the waiver process started ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Live today as if it may be your last and learn today as if you will live forever

They're after my Lucky Charms! |
If Canoe U is asking for the waiver, you should know quickly. There is only one class per year, and slots have to be filled. Now if she was heading to OCS with a class every week or so, then that waiver can take a few weeks/months. At least it did when I needed one for something that happened when I was a toddler. Lord, your ocean is so very large and my divos are so very f****d-up Dirt Sailors Unite!

I know zip about this, but I believe the link below has the medical requirements for admission to the USNA. What you’ve described doesn’t seem to be an issue according to the excerpt I quoted. Unless there’s evidence of instability, whatever that means with respect to your daughter’s knee. "Musculoskeletal System Un-united fractures, history of surgery to a major joint within six months, history of derangement of any major joint not corrected by surgery or evidence of instability subsequent to surgery, history of anterior or posterior cruciate ligament injury, retained orthopaedic devices, arthritis, severe scoliosis, symptomatic structural abnormalities of the spinal column, and herniated nucleus pulposus or history of spinal surgery for this or any other condition are disqualifying." Link Is it possible whoever did the medical exam got it wrong or entered the information the wrong way? Is there someone that can be contacted at the DoDMERB that can tell you definitively what the issue is? Is a second medical exam possible?

Lawyers, Guns and Money |
Can she run? That's a pretty big part of plebe summer. As long as she doesn't have continuing issues, she will get her waiver. My daughter had to get one for her bad eyesight. Later, the Navy paid for her eye surgery and she came away with perfect eyes! "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Eah that's what I was coming to post...nothing happens quick in the government, and even slower with Navy admin...but (and dont take this as a slight) with retention and recruitment rates down across the board, she WILL get the waiver assuming all is good now. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

Reports in the morning I chuckled at the official directions to meet point. “Parents say a brief good-bye and depart” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Live today as if it may be your last and learn today as if you will live forever
