This could be a poll but there would be about 4 million choices plus an "other".

I've gotta go with Stevie Nicks. Just love her voice. Always have and always will.

I'm looking forward to others inputs, just don't dis my StevieBig Grin

Stevie Nicks is right up there for sure. So is Tina Turner for me and Patsy Cline for that matter.

Ann Wilson is outstanding, but I've gotta throw Tanya Donnelly's name in the hat too.

More pop than rock, but Karen Carpenter is the best female voice of all time.

Leaning more towards rock, I'll toss out Bonnie Tyler. That voice of hers did something to the teenaged me.

Pat Benatar should be in the "top tier."

Google search until your fingers are raw. No poll -- not fans, not the music industry, not the critics -- puts Stevie Nicks anywhere near the top of female vocalists. Rock, all types of music, modern or at any time in recording history, or whatever.

Sure, she has a distinctive voice, and she gave Fleetwood Mac a amazing boost when she joined. Some of her solo work is outstanding. At one time her range and power were quite impressive. But "chemistry" takes a toll on a lot of body parts.

She's good, but not truly among the best. There's no getting around that.

On sheer vocal quality I really like Linda Ronstadt's voice.

But I like Bonnie Raitt's voice and songs and total package the best of any female, I believe.

As far as what critics think... who gives a crap?
