There is absolutely nothing 'we' can do about Goodell.

He works exclusively for the owners - he is doing exactly what they have told him to do. He does not work for the NFL, the fans, or the players. He works for the owners.

You hit the owners in the pockets through their sponsors and he's gone. We've seen that at Fox. If this gets as big as it possibly could they will be looking for a fall guy.

No, you did the right thing. They made themselves look bad. You doing the right thing held their error in sharper relief.

And, not that I watch the NBA, but "LeBron James joins NFL in hitting back at Trump: 'The people run this country'" Guess what, LeBron, we do, and we are speaking up.

So watching the Mon game to see how things unfold, the entire Dallas Cowboys team including Jerry Jones, kneels before the National Anthem.
But during the Anthem, both teams are standing arm, on seperate sides, which is a good thing.
You could hear a lot of boos though, when the Cowboys knelt.

Now, that I agree with. Well, also hit them by removing eyeballs from the television and people from the stands. Those are the only ways to effect any change.

No games and no Superbowl and especially no patronage of their advertisers.

Are we serious about this? If so, no pro football means just that, which means no Superbowl party at your house and you won't attend one if invited elsewhere.

I was dead serious last season and I'm doubly serious now. Didn't watch a single game including the superbowl. I was so serious that even when the Sunday games were on in the mess on the ship during dinner time, I would eat with my back facing the screen. And I wasn't shy letting any crewmember who cared to ask why.

And I actually thought there was a chance at the beginning of this season that I might actually be able to watch the Raiders play again. Nope. And I don't see how I'll ever come back now. My conviction is ironclad in this regard.

Yeah, It's been so long since I could stomach pro sports, I don't even have the desire anymore. Even if they came crawling back, declared their error and corrected their behavior, I couldn't muster the ganas to be entertained by them; any of them.

I was thinking about watching tonight's game just to see what would happen and what the Cardinals would do. Then I decided that I'm pretty much done with football for the season. Let the ratings sink, the dollars dry up and the groveling for support begin.

Wrong, Coach Tomlin made a choice as well as many other coaches, players, owners, and NFL leadership.

The NFL is rotten to the core.

As a Veteran I take offense to this disrespect on the National stage.

There is the key. He pissed off the coach and his teammates and was probably forced to make that statement.
Impossible, Tomlin and the NFL have stated that this is a free speech issue.
Surely Tomlin did not try to suppress the free speech of Villanueva. Roll Eyes

Nice try at a compromise Jerry. But fuck you and the Cowgirls. You supported those that hate this country. I started watching the Cowboys with my dad over 45 years ago. It's been a while since I've watched. Never again.

Villenueva explained the situation. Confusion, strange stadium, didn't comunicate his idea to many, and the situation didn't come off as he envisioned. Maybe you don't believe him.

As he said, when the Eagles cut him, Tomlin was the only one who called. Instead of earning ~$100 grand a year as a Major, he was making $507,000 NFL minimum until the $24 million for the 4 year extension he signed this summer. Maybe he feels like Tomlin is owed the benefit of the doubt in the confusion, not make Tomlin look bad.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

That's how it went down. "Ok guys, we"ll kneel before the Anthem, then show solidarity by locking arms during the Anthem". hmmm. We will see how that works out during a home game.

Take a few steps back and look at what's happening in our country. The "media" are a 24/7 anti-Trump propaganda machine. The entertainment industry takes every possible opportunity to attack him, and everyone who supports him, the recent Emmys the latest example. The education establishment as well is anti-Trump and attacks any Trump supporters. Look at the treatment of Milo and other speakers on the right. Now it has spread into sports, and I doubt that the NFL will be the whole story. We have heard about even high school teams wanting to "take a knee."

This is not a conspiracy theory, but there is truly an all-out assault from every left-wing quarter. And the ultimate target is not Trump, or police, or white nationalists, or Confederate heroes, the ultimate target is America herself. It is a concerted effort to degrade America, American values, American history and American traditions.

I didn't think that a civil war was possible in America, but now I see that we are in the middle of one. It is nothing like the one in 1861, but it is a battle of two sides, utterly opposed on the most fundamental levels. And only one will prevail.

I'm not sure what message Jones and the Cowboys were trying to send. It doesn't matter anymore to me, because I haven't watched an NFL game in two years and have no plans to do so in the future. I don't appreciate a bunch of overpaid jackwads trying to rub their politics in my face.

Lol did they really kneel before the anthem and then lock arms? These shitstains don’t get it at all. That makes it worse, now they’ve got a damn ballet going on.

ANY for politics and leftist bullshit will NOT be introduced into my mental escape that is sports. If it is, I will not watch. Period.

Take your politics and shove them up your ass. Your dancing monkeys out there to entertain me. If you annoy me instead of entertain me, then I have no use for you. Know your place, this goes for all entertainers/actors/etc.

I really don’t mind at all if you want to speak on your own time. You do you man, have at it. But I’m not paying you mental midgets to give me commentary on society. Entertain when your called upon. Do your activist shot on your own time, not when it’s time to dance.

This says it better than I could. Fuckers can't even follow their own rule book about the anthem either.

I see you…
I see you, professional football player, as you kneel down during the playing of the National Anthem…
I see you, with your arm raised in protest…
I see you thinking you are doing something to unite people over social and racial injustice.
I see you…
But, more than that here is what I really see…
I see a man pushing the wheels of his wheelchair as he returns home from a foreign land unable to function as he once did, due to fighting to protect you as you kneel on the ground.
I see a young widow, dressed carefully in black, mourning the remains of her husband, hugging a coffin on the tarmac of an airport. I see that same woman clutching a perfectly folded flag to her bosom as taps is played at his graveside. I see her young son, tears streaming down his face knowing his father would never come home again.
I see graveyards full of tombstones, here and overseas, with names of those fallen, with dates showing a much too early death. I see so many, from so many different wars and conflicts, crosses and stones. They are too numerous to count.
I see the sacrifices made, the hearts broken, the tears shed, the shattered lives all in the name of freedom… all in the name of that red, white and blue piece of cloth that you choose to protest.
Social and racial injustice? You who make millions of American dollars for playing a game in a country where you have more opportunity to make a better life for you and your family than anywhere in the world? Really? The hypocrisy of it astounds me.
First of all, if you really want to protest, give your money and time to make changes. Give to those less fortunate than you. Help those people get an education, buy them food and shelter. Show them opportunities to make better decisions. Teach them that they have a purpose in life.
If you really want to protest injustices…
Protest the treatment of veterans, who have to wait extremely long periods of time for healthcare, who are living under interstate bridges, in boxes, who are committing suicide. Today over twenty of them will take their lives out of hopelessness and despair.
Protest the people whose goal in life is to make sure an unborn baby doesn’t see the light of day. There will be around 3,500 of them today. There is no greater injustice than that.
Protest the loss of religious rights as some atheist complained so much that public prayer by a group of young players on an athletic field is not allowed.
When I see that flag, when I hear that song, when I sing those words, I give homage to those who died for this land, who continue to protect this land, who don’t know if and when they will ever see their loved ones again. Some say that they died for your freedom so that you can take a knee. I say they died for your freedom so you can stand proudly and be thankful that God has blessed you enough that you can live in a country of so much opportunity.
Go ahead…
Go ahead and kneel…
Go ahead and be ungrateful.
I am watching…
As are millions and millions of others.
We don’t see a protest of unity… we see a protest of disgraceful ignorance.

Sadly, I tuned in to a Dallas Cowboys game for the last time tonight. Seeing them take a knee was a slap in the face. I’m done with the NFL.

I thought the owner of that team told them that they will NOT kneel.
