I was looking for advice on the P229 and Beretta 92. This was right after 9/11, no one felt safe in NY. Since then, I just hung around for the incredible knowledge base.

I was a 20 year old hell bent on getting a handgun for myself as a 21st birthday present and knew the Navy SeALs carried one so got an airsoft version and thought it felt way better in hand than the S&W 41 and revolvers I grew up on. Snagged a good P226 screen name because I didn’t think I’d be on here longer than a month or so I figured it would take me to accumulate of of the SIG knowledge. I will say I stayed for all the good people here and their knowledge and experience with everything in life, guns or not.

I believe I was on "The Cult of the P7" site and I was advised of this site. I only had HKs at the time and I rented a Sig to try it out. I liked the sights on it and I shot it well.

I had lost interest in the hobby for around 25 years, then decided to buy a pistol. Ended up buying a P-226 then searched for a forum, found a few and it didn't take long to realize Sigforum was the one.

A former co-worker of mine told me about this forum when I was having some sight problem with my P-226. Never regretted my decision to join this forum with the wealth of information (knowledge and experience) that I've picked up from this forum all these years.

I recall the first time I walked into a library, the old school library with card catalog, Dewey Decimal System and books made of paper. In that library was the collected wisdom of the ages, good and bad. I spent much time in libraries.

Fast forward to the Internet age. Now the collected wisdom of the ages is available by typing a short phrase into a search engine.

On one of my forays into researching pistols, Sigforum popped up. I found, and continue to find, a wealth of good information. I stayed because this is one of the best moderated sites I have encountered. The collected wisdom of Sigforum members is pretty amazing.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

I joined when CPO 226s were everywhere for $495 and imported P6s were common on shelves for $395.

I don’t currently own any, and for me, Sig has priced themselves out of my market.

What they have that I want, I can’t afford. What they have I can afford, I don’t want.

As an example, a brand new G19 in those days was $509. A brand new G19 gen5 yesterday at a local store was $559. In 15 years, the Glock went up $50. In those same 15 years, those Sigs almost doubled.

As I’m a practical owner, not a collector, their prices have far exceeded their actual value - again - to me. But if you were a collector or broker in those days, and you still have a few, I tip my hat to your wise investment sense.

But what’s more important, in me staying, is the knowledge, generosity, and respect of the membership and the owner. Best gun forum available, bar none.

Too far back to recall for sure, but most likely looking for info on the P225 (my first SIG) that I had just bought, and I stuck around!

I don't post very often, but I do read a lot!

A friend of mine turned me on to it years ago. I don't post much but I've learned a ton here over the years.

I had owned a couple guns, and went shooting occasionally, for many years. When Kansas legalized concealed carry, I decided I needed some help picking a gun, holster, belt, and everything else that goes along with carrying.
I joined several forums, but kept coming back to this one.
Like several others, I do more reading than posting, but there’s not anywhere that comes close to the knowledge base here.

I had recently completed a course at SIG Academy and was on an internet search for advice on which pistol to buy with my SIG discount coupon.

That search took me to the SIG Forum and I got lots of good advice in the Introduction section. I ended up getting a P239 in 357SIG.

As an aside, at the time I joined the forum, I had six handguns a few of which were revolvers, so I took the handle 6guns.

Picked up a used P220 at a gun show 20 years ago and wanted to learn more about it and 1911s. The big discussion on the forum back then was SIG was going to come out with their own 1911.

I have a few SIGs.

I had bought a couple of Sigs back around 1995, I never really started looking into gun forums until I had time. It appears I joined here in 2008, still have 3 Sigs and love this place.

Like many others here, I frequented the Smith & Wesson Forum first. Later, I became interested in SIG pistols and bought a used P220R with a DAK trigger. Wanting to learn more about it, I came to this forum. I did a lot of reading here and bought another P220 and a P220 Compact. At some point I discovered the "You will buy a Glock" thread and by reading it overcame my predjudice and dislike for Glocks resulting in the eventual purchase of five Glock pistols. I no longer own any SIG pistols and only have three of the original Glocks. My handgun interests have continued to evolve, no little thanks to this place for giving me new possibilities to consider. I don't post much but I read a lot and visit almost everyday. There is always someting of interest going on.
