I’m all about defunding. Defunding Hollywood, that is. Last movie I saw was Richard Jewell by Clint and have no plans to go back unless it’s for another similar movie by him or a conservative filmmaker.

Yes, make it even harder and the talent pool even worse for the police to do their job. Thats the answer.

I am so sick of these truly worthless, ignorant, garbage human beings

I thought the same thing. No surprise either that John Legend, Brie Larson, and Natalie Portman also jumped on board.

These nitwits need to do some soul searching on a very simple concept....Do the police protect the majority from the minority, or is it the other way around?

I don't get out much. Jane Fonda is the only name that I recognized out of that bunch, but they all seem to have one thing in common: ignorance.

Yes. De-fund the police. Let's start with the precincts in which they live or have property including airports and marinas.

Then we can move on to the precincts where they vacation. That'll be a lot harder because they live abroad 50% of the time.

Then we can move to outlaw personal protection and security services.

Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

When Society, vis a vis our system of government and laws, wants to punish someone for bad behavior what do they do most often? They fine us, right? Tickets, Fines, Punative Damages, and the rest. It is, short of literal ass-whippins and jail, THE defacto form of punishment we dish out in this country here in the 21st Century. This much is inarguable.

Why, then, doesn't it work in both directions? (It does, and should, and this is no different).

Are some animals more equal? Or is it a flawed approach altogether? Can't really be both can it...

Some agencies and departments are so flawed they, too, need to receive virtual ass-whippins, and that's only really possible by deep funding cuts, firings, and charges for the shitstains. Whatever it takes.

Because it must change and is deeply, deeply broken. That, too, is inarguable.

I suspect there's a secret initiation rite, kind of like the Masons, these "elites" have to pass. Scores higher than 90% on hypocrisy, ignorance, botox/steroid usage, vapidness, etc. How else could they all look and sound so much the same?

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

When our elected officials allow lawlessness and police are told to stand down what's the point of funding anyway?

Police budgets are handled at the local level. There's nothing stopping them from electing officials who can do exactly what they want. They can vote in people who will do what they want, and I can vote in people who do what I want.

They can organize and take that course of action, then live with the consequences.

The problem is... that once you lose control, politically, it's really hard to ever get it back. How do we take back our formerly great American cities? In the City of St. Louis there are NO Republicans, only white Democrats and black Democrats. The Republicans all moved out of the City, starting in the late 1940's and there hasn't been a Republican mayor since.

And now, the shit storm is spreading to the surrounding suburbs. The County (suburbs) haven't had a Republican County Executive since 1990. That was 30 years ago...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

From the Rolling Stone source article:
quote:
"Noting, for instance, that state and local government spending on police and corrections jumped from $60 billion to $194 billion between 1977 and 2017..."

It's already "de-funded", it's actually a 20% decrease when adjusted for inflation. Roll Eyes

John Legend is a singer, and a legend in his own mind,
no idea who brie is,

portman is the actress that was the little girl in The Professional, and played the Mother to Luke and Leah Skywalker in the Star Wars Prequels,

On another "celebrity" note ~ it appears that Drew Brees has caved to the activists.

I wonder if all these guys are really expecting to turn opinions?

For me it just makes me angrier and more set in opposition. Mad

OK I feel better now. Frown
