It is not just a lack of patriotism kramden but in the NFL’s case I’d call it faux patriotism.

They should just let companies sponsor and name the teams, just like they do the stadiums / bowls / etc.

If you want to buy into their shit, go ahead. But Pro and College Sports have committed Seppuku in my eyes. Dead to me.

^^^ This is illustrative of one of the big problems in sports:
The decisions are driven by money, as it's just business for the owners.
The majority of the money comes not from fans in the stands but from TV revenue which means from advertisers.
So it's the cancel culture prevalent in most big corporate advertisers which is driving decision making in sports, particularly in the NFL. The NFL couldn't care less what the fans in the stands think.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Well, we enjoyed watching the Buccaneers win over Atlanta yesterday, but did not enjoy reading the various "White Man Bad" messages on back of their helmets.

At least they've kept the name. So far.

I grew up in the Cleveland area so chief Wahoo was a regular visitor to my home in the form of Hats, Calender's, and T Shirts.

As for the Cleveland Guardians, never ever gonna have a place on my head or home. IMO whoever came up with that "name" had there head so far up their backside they could look out of their mouth.

I've stopped counting.

My college football team is terrible so I don’t watch sports. But, my team is the Seminoles so I can only imagine it’s a matter of time before they are in the crosshairs. For that reason I chose 1, stick with the original name.

Political correctness has driven me away from contemporary sports. They are simply businesses from products I refrain. When politics enters sports, it’s no longer sport but a circus with clowns in pretty uniforms with numbers.

Fuck the NBA, MLB & NFL. They are DEAD to me. Turns out they are not that hard to replace. I’ll never watch them play a game for the rest of my life. Fuck em.

Agree totally. I grew up in Green Bay. It was a culture there but that was then.

I enjoy college football but suspect the time will come when it will be unwatchable too.

There are thousands of good books I have yet to read.

Losing The War On Wokeness: Washington Football Team Officially Changes Its Name To "Commanders"

Having lost the war on wokeness, the former Washington Redskins have officially changed their name to the "Washington Commanders".

The news was announced on Wednesday morning, about a year and a half after the company "announced they would be known as the Washington Football Team until the team chose a permanent name," according to fan site Hogs Haven.

The site called the renaming an "ugly process that has caused division in the fan base, and left people feeling like they lost a part of their childhood, their family history, and their community."

Better:
The Washington Woketards!
The Washington Commies.
