I don't think the Globo Gym Purple Cobras are going to kneel to the Zeitgeist.

Personally I don't care. Over the last couple of years I have pretty much decided that I'm done with all "PRO" sports. Liberalism has ruined another segment of America.

As was stated above, we name our fighting equipment after Indians because they were brave fighters, not as an insult, you can choose to see Redskins as an insult or as a source of pride. I choose the later but I am losing patience I will admit...
If they do change their name I hope they go with the Washington Pale Face Devils.

Yes she's Asian, but little kids don't know any better, just that she was different and not black.

I don't watch the nfl anymore. But the name doesn't bother me....but to change it now is tantamount to tearing down a historical statue, which I don't cotton to.

My third all time favorite Redskin Gary Clark talks about the Redskins name controversy.

I find it interesting that, for all the noise and controversy surrounding the possible name change, virtually no one in the media can be bothered to travel to or contact Indians living on reservations to actually get first hand accounts of how the people feel about the name, as Clark and other team members have done. Far easier to join the 'woke trend' then to actually test the validity of one's beliefs by talking to those who supposedly are the most affected by the name.

Not that it will sway the easily offended, but thanks for posting that piece.

What annoys me is this outrage card that seems to be played over and over and over. Do I care about changing the name or logo of sports teams? Nope, I don't.

Do I care about giving in and emboldening these types of folks because they will never stop being outraged and only continue to shout normal people down until we submit to whatever whim and/or irrational outrage strikes them next week? Yes, yes I do.

There is nothing logical or reasonable about this whole thing. So discussing that it's an honor or anything like that is pointless. What actual Indians think about the name is irrelevant to the feelings and emotions of these cultural Marxists. These kinds of things are emotional outbursts from spoiled people who think they should always get their way and can't wrap their mind around the fact that they are not always 100% right.

Since I don’t watch Pro sports anymore except a little Hockey, I say let them “pander” to the mob and don’t complain about fans leaving in droves like NASCAR.

"the Washington Redskins are announcing the team will undergo a thorough review of the team's name."

I hope that's code for, "we're going to go through the process -- again -- and find that Native Americans are not upset at us -- still -- and then we'll go on about our business. As the Redskins."

God bless America.

Nope rumor mill is no Redskins, no Native imagery. See the link I posted above.

South Park had an episode where their school mascot was a cow. PETA showed up and demanded that the school pick a mascot that didn't degrade bovines. So, the kids had to find a non-offensive name. Being South Park, the kids came up with two choices: turd sandwich or giant douche. Stan - one of the kids - refused to vote for either one since they are both dumb. An adult put it in perspective: "Son, you have to choose between a turd and a douche. Elections are like that."

Which is a long post to get to my pick: The "Washington Turd Sandwich" The Detroit Lions should go with the "Detroit Giant Douche".

Very interesting given the “Chiefs” just signed their QB to a half a billion dollar deal. WTF? 500 million to play stick and ball? The NFL is fucked up. People at work talk about going to the games, and the ticket prices are absolutely insane. A good seat for a 3 hour game (really 30 minutes of actual gameplay) would pay for you to have a pretty nice vacation for an entire week.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I have the deepest respect and admiration for the Tuskegee Airmen and, under different circumstances, I would likely support any team that adopted the name or related nicknames or imagery...but not at the expense of a long proud tradition that the iconic name Redskin carries.

I hesitate to mention this as I don't like to be overly influenced by trendy modern language, but I recently had to resort to the Urban Dictionary to understand a reference in another thread and accidentally came across the same words being mentioned as a possible replacement for the Redskins name...not sure that either the team or whatever remaining fans there are want to deal with the insinuations behind that name.

You nailed it. That's SO right.

... and the NFL ownership has gone down the path of appeasement with the mob and the cultural Marxists. They really have abandoned the majority of their fan base through these appeasement efforts.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
