I really appreciate the kind words! Still waiting to find out which of the patrol divisions (aka Precincts) I get assigned to. Almost certainly 3rd shift. Hopefully it won't be one of the divisions that are 35+ minutes away from my house (and I live in the city!). Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Our department doesn't put you in your new rank until the day of the ceremony, which is next week. Until then I just happen to be in class or teaching classes every day, so I'm officially done as an officer. I cleaned out my desk and locker last night, but I'll go back one night next week for dinner with my unit. It was bittersweet!
