I really appreciate the kind words! Still waiting to find out which of the patrol divisions (aka Precincts) I get assigned to. Almost certainly 3rd shift. Hopefully it won't be one of the divisions that are 35+ minutes away from my house (and I live in the city!).

Congratulations, Sergeant! I am not LEO or MIL but like many here am deeply impressed with and concerned for those of you who serve.

I have great friends in LE and know that it is rewarding and infuriating!

Congrats and God bless,
Nate

Congrats, my brother tested twice with his department and came close but gave up. I know how much work goes into that promotion so good on you. Go out and do great things for America now.

Congratulations! You have earned it. Now just set a good example and be a great leader for those you are responsible for. Leaders are there to support their people to give them the tools they need to get the job done; not just tell them what to do. I am sure you know that already.

Congratulations Chongo, middle management is an interesting place to work. Advice-back the men and women on a the front line they will either make you look good or bad. You are the cushion between higher management and the officers. It’s a fine line and a constant struggle to keep them both happy.

Our department doesn't put you in your new rank until the day of the ceremony, which is next week. Until then I just happen to be in class or teaching classes every day, so I'm officially done as an officer. I cleaned out my desk and locker last night, but I'll go back one night next week for dinner with my unit. It was bittersweet!
