I think this case is an important update in the American idea of freedom and responsibility.

It’s always good to know what definitions we are dealing with.

That makes a discussion purposeless.

Another example:
“No genuine Christian would ever renounce his faith and become an atheist.”
“Smith was a devout born-again evangelical for 40 years, but then became an atheist.”
“Well then, Smith was never a real Christian.”

The person making the “no true …” claim is not bound by anything; he gets to make up his own definitions regardless of any facts or considerations beyond his own criteria.
No rational discussion is possible after that stage is reached.

Not guilty by reason of insanity makes zero sense and should be elimiated immediately. My proposal for plea options:

Not Guilty = Go to trial

Guilty = Get sentenced

Guilty by Reason of Insanity = Quick hearing to confirm that this is likley the case and then you go to locked down mental institution for whatever lenght of time you would get in prison if you were convicted of the crime. If the hearing determines that you are full of shit, then plea is switched to guilty automatically and off to prison you go.
