Hospital capacity and ICU capacity is at 0% in my county. Literally every hospital bed in my county is filled with someone who needs care so urgently that they require a doctor and a nurse to be nearby.

On the macro level, sure, the fatality rate is low. But on the sheer scale of exponential growth, there are going to be more than a few people who died because America can't get it's shit together.

Every Hospital Bed in your county is filled? With COVID patients?

Practically EVERYONE here dying of COVID lives in a Nursing Home. While people are getting infected at increasing numbers, most aren't even being hospitalized. and the VAST Majority are NOT dying from it! We also have NO issue w/ available Hospital beds/capacity either.

What, in your opinion, does America NEED to do in order to get it's shit together?

It doesn’t matter what your opinion of COVID is. If it gets on your set, they shut you down. I whole heartedly agree with any criticism you have with liberal Hollywood assholes. They deserve it. Moreover they don’t deserve your money if that’s how you feel.

My wife and I, our friends. All work in production. To work, you sign an agreement you’ll follow the rules. Including wristbands to control access and prevent spread. All to keep your movie from getting shut down. Cruise was not wrong. The crew agrees to comply to the rules no matter how idiotic they are. If they can’t follow them, every one suffers.

Much like the jelly donut in Full Metal Jacket.

Edit to add - when I say everyone suffers, they lose their job. I’m not comparing Tom Cruise to
R. Lee Ermey. Big Grin

It sucks, but those are the rules. Follow them or you’re fired.”

No drama, no “unhinged” accusations, just action. Actions really do speak louder than words.

Bingo (assuming he had already warned these guys one time)

Just heard on the radio that 5 crew members quit because they were tired of his rants.

I know very little about Cruise and his temper. However, a display of anger with obtuse staff, if it is a rare occurrence, can be useful in getting an important point across. Particularly where safety is concerned.

50 movies in 56 years and this is some how "top gossip"?

I'd pay money to watch him do this for 30 minutes.

To a number of a holes.

Good for him, for saying what tens of thousands want to express.

They have been drilled on the paradigm for six weeks and it still has not sunk in.
Am I the only one
That heard
R. Lee Ermey reaching from the beyond?

I hear told, yes our hospital system is now buckling under case load because of COVID. Ambulances are no longer being diverted from full hospitals, as there is no where else to go.

Americans, as a people (not the govt) needed/needs to take this more seriously. It's the continued marginalization (most people don't die) that makes people think that it's okay to still socialize the way they used to. As a consequence, we are 9 months into this and many people's livelihoods are still being affected.

I believed that if took the whole thing more seriously as a community/society, we would have moved out of pandemic restrictions earlier and our economy would have been able to take advantage of the world wide lag and overall we'd have come out ahead.

We aren't a society that can isolate and 'lock down' the population. We're a massive country comprised of millions of FREE individuals. The minute we decided we would 'lock down' as our defense against this thing, the battle was lost. We should have isolated the vulnerable and spent our treasure on reinforcing the health care industry. A 'lock down' that involves open Walmart's and Lowes is just a silly charade.

What a bunch of BS...

There is no pandemic - you're a fool if you think there is. This was 100% an effort to keep Trump from being re-elected - that's it. I can't believe you're still spouting this shit.

Wow. While I agree whole heartedly that the media and left used this opportunity to derail Trump, his missteps notwithstanding, to completely discount the the seriousness of this is asinine. I am angry that he lost, that our weak populace has allowed the government to grab more power in the name of safety, and that my personal freedoms and ability to choose have been infringed upon However to completely discount covid as some kind of farce is a study in denial.

Right. Countries all over the world have gone on lockdown, destroying their economies and the financial lives of millions of their citizens.....as a bid to keep Trump from getting re-elected?

Right, I agree that the lockdown (and all other similarly ill-contrived government responses) are stupid and definitely wouldn't have worked on our large and non-homogeneous country.

What I'm suggesting was that we, as individual FREE people, should have took it all a little more seriously. If we all, on a personal level, considered treated catching the virus less like catching the flu and more like, "hey, this is going to cost us trillions of dollars, and like 1 in 10 people I run into each day is going to be out of a job", we could have gotten ahead of this with our personal choices. One less 4th of July BBQ attended, a quiet Thanksgiving instead of visiting the family, etc.

Obviously, it's a wishful thinking at this point as there are literally people still out there who think this was all a fabricated hoax.
