Well I am sorry Para for not responding more to this thread or this issue.

I read every post you make and follow everything going on. I was always more vocal in the past but since my participation in the classifieds has been nothing for awhile I chose to just keep following the issue instead of adding input.

Like others i appreciate very much what you provide for us here and always have. This place is one of a kind and you and the members make it what it is. Thank You!!

You know who he is? If so, I may have an old phone number for The A-Team. We can go after that Foo!

Seriously, I am morally opposed to Doxxing, as I'm sure everybody here is, but it would be fun...

If there’s no classified section here where I can buy and sell, there’s no point in my being here. As soon as I receive the quarter of bitcoin certificate the seller promised in the Classifieds to send by two-day FedEx, I’m going to cancel my subscription and will be asking for a refund for my remaining subscription term.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." It matters to me, and I look forward to its return. If you're looking for obscure Sig items, such as a:
  • P6/P225 mag
  • OEM legacy checkered grips
  • von Stavenhagen sights
  • Sig Armorer's tool kit
This place is probably your best chance of finding them.

Plus we have some smaller FFLs - DK Fireams, BV Arms, dry-fly off the top of my head - whom I felt confident dealing with through the classifieds as forum regulars and supporting their businesses.

I did not post as the ongoing scamming and dealing with that was greater precedence. I did not want that to be overshadowed by what might appear as whining and bad form.

But I think the classifieds do provide benefit to those who maintain the spirit of the board.

I will miss it and checked it daily. It will probably save me money if it does not reopen. I told my wife if she outlived me to sell all my stuff here.

I really like having the classified available, but that is not why I come here.
I wasn’t going to clutter up this thread because I didn’t think you were looking for input about keeping them or not. And you seemed to have enough going on already to bother you about it.

I’m glad the Classifieds will return.

Spirit of the board, indeed.
I’ve found a few things here, sold a few things here, and learned a lot about what’s out there. I’ve seen things for sale here that I never knew existed, and that learning has been fun too.

Agreed, same motivations and sentiment here as well. Between losing GAFS last week and seeing SF classifieds closed today, I was actually pretty bummed out. I have a lot of things I’ve been needing and wanting to list. I was really not looking forward to wading back into the EE. I’m glad to hear it was one guy and that vulnerabilities have been identified and will be addressed. This is a great place, populated with quality people and well-run.

jigray3's account was hijacked last night and it's just really shitty, amoral behavior, because the guy never bothered anybody. The same goes for Jester814 and Sig2340 and probably others, but those guys have gotten back in.

Because the forum requires logging in to see right now, jigray3 has no idea of any of this.

It just goes to show what shitbags these people are, screwing with people who are minding their own business.

I think GAFS on reddit being shut down a week or two ago has a lot to do with the sudden onslaught of hacking/scamming activities over here. These scumbags just moved on to the next target forum.

I have availed myself of the Classifieds in the past, both buying and selling, and I’m sorry to see that it came to this. Even when I am not in a position to buy or sell I still find myself looking in just to “window shop”. I’m sure that whatever solution you come up with will be well thought out, parabellum.

I think I saw that Sig2340 was able to get back to his account but I have met him IRL and have his contact info if needed. David is a good dude.

Para -- I sat the thread out as it seemed you were very busy with the issue and I didn't want to come off as second guessing your decision, nor distracting you from the work at hand. I was just trying to be respectful in a challenging time.

You'd mentioned it wasn't a weak password issue, and I was thinking about how maybe this guy must have got access, and wondering if the site host may have been compromised? But again, I didn't want to pull you down a line of thinking that you probably have already taken.

Just a thought, but might there be a mechanism to force all users to run a password update? If the bad guy has a snapshot of the hashed passwords (that they are compromising over time with modern cyber tools), that would relegate the hash table as worthless.

This was/is my viewpoint also. I didn't want to clutter the thread with thoughts that might be perceived as second guessing or complaining.
It's nice to window shop the classified ads. I think I've only used them once it all the years I've been here.

If I had to guess, I'd say this was most likely due to most members not wanting to protest or interject too much, but instead let you do whatever you think is best for the Forum as you always have.

Much appreciated BTW.
