With that kind of thinking, I've always been amazed they allow drug stores to stay open. I mean we have a drug problem, there's a store that sells drugs! Roll Eyes

I don't follow the analogy.

I agree with Gustofer. I don't read the Sheriff's statement as he intends not to enforce it. He states he has reservations, and the need to critically evaluate decisions made above. That's nice, but he doesn't say he will direct his deputies not to enforce. He stops short of that.

As a Native Texan who just moved from Albuquerque after 20+ years to return home… Thank God and Greyhound we’re gone! We reached our limit and moved to beautiful Pearland Texas in May of this year and I have to say, what “Governor Michelle” just did, comes as no surprise.

Looks to me like a bunch of legally licensed NM citizens need to head to Bernalillo county and tell the governor to fuck off.

And I've never ordered from Fenix Ammunition, but I like their style.

I'd say we are about two years away from the left just flat out ignoring court rulings. Not trying to hide it, but coming straight out and saying they won't abide by it.

That's where this whole "the Supreme Court is illegitimate" phase is heading. Look at the states that passed gun restrictions since the Bruen ruling. Some of those laws are blatantly illegal based on the ruling.

"So sue me".

And they will get sued, the laws will be stuck down, and the blue state legislatures will pass new ones the next day. Because they can, and no one will do anything about it.

Yeah, NM's problems are law-abiding citizens with a CC. /S

The activities in a sanctuary state are only amplified by an underfunded and abused police force. The “good guys” and LE in New Mexico do what they can but EVERYTHING is stacked against them. When the Feds take over the ABQ PD because law abiding and law enforcing Officers shoot some bad guys, then give decision and discretionary authority over the LE community to leftist citizens, the picture starts getting very clear. This action is just another example of why we could not feel safe there any longer. Blessed to be back in Texas!!!

The words of a simpleton:

“If it saves one life, then it’s worth doing,” Viscoli said.

Miranda Viscoli, co-president of New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence, applauded the governor’s order as a courageous and necessary step to curbing gun violence, even if the measure’s legal fate is uncertain.

A bunch of openly carrying law abiding gun owners need to have a peaceful rally in ABQ. A very large group of them. Perhaps have some civil rights groups put out the word they will support personal lawsuits against the governess and any police officers who attempt to enforce the patently illegal usurpation of individual rights.

IOW, show clearly that the proclamation is not enforceable by daring them to try, and punishing them hard if they do try.

This situation is exactly why that provision of the NM Constitution was enacted! It is exactly why the 2A is in the COTUS.

I might be getting old and crusty, but every day it seems we are being pushed ever harder by the left towards violent civil realignment.

We lived in Albuquerque for 10 years, mid 1980's to mid 1990's. And loved it! So much to do right there and all over the state. Gang violence was an increasing problem due to the drug trafficking and we were quite aware of where not to go.

The city's population has doubled since we were there.

We used to go shooting out west of Rio Rancho. Just find a spot in the desert and have fun. That was way before the shooting range state park or really anything other than Double Eagle airport was on the west mesa.

I'm glad we got out when we did.

Gallup is a shit hole, even worse than ABQ in many ways. You should have stopped in Edgewood, just east of ABQ. Hit up the local Forumites next time you plan on passing through for better travel advice!

We're tired of being peaceful-------------but it WOULD be nice to have 10,000 - or more- fully armed citizens on their doorstep to get their attention

Thanks but stopping points are based on drive-times from where they stopped the night before (Tulsa in this case).

I think the time for peaceful but assertive resistance is waning. I believe it is time to e clear we prefer peace but are not going to accept tyranny such as a politician summarily vacating the Constitution. Basically show them they are poking a bear they do not want to wake up.

Something like your number of 10,000 armed citizens in their face would be a good start.

KOAT-TV reports that there was a shooting/homicide early this morning. From the online report:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police are investigating a deadly shooting in the southeast Albuquerque.

According to Albuquerque Police, officers responded to a report of a shooting near Dallas Street and Bell Avenue on Saturday morning. When officers arrived, one person was found to be shot and was taken to a hospital. That person later died

Guess the shooter didn’t read the Emergency Order.

Any news of any group organizing a protest march while carrying their guns. This should be done immediately, like tomorrow! To be clear, I am not advocating violence, just an orderly, peaceful, defiance of this absurd violation of our Constitution! Let them arrest a few thousand citizens on a bullshit charge!

Oh yeah, they all should be wearing masks, you know, to prevent Covid. Big Grin

Just out of curiosity, since this little public health order was passed, did all shootings drop to zero?

By the way, how on earthy can a public health order be used for a ban on anything in society?

Nope, the incident I related earlier occurred early today.

KOB-TV in Albuquerque reports that it occurred around 10 A.M. today.
