The longer this goes on, the more I’m convinced this bitch is the left’s lightning rod in seeing just how far they can go to completely ignore the constitution. Where are the impeachment proceedings we keep threatening? Why hasn’t the state police told the scunt that her actions are unconstitutional and ignore them as literally the rest of the law enforcement community is doing? This is a test; we need to bury her sooner than later.

Oh, for fuck's sake.

She's being assailed from every direction, including her own party and her own administration. A federal judge has blocked her action until it's examined, and the judge was not gentle about it when he did it. She's now facing multiple lawsuits, there are calls to impeach her, Republican congressmen are seeking to condemn her, the sheriff of the county has flatly stated he won't enforce the law, her AG has said he won't support her actions and citizens are brazenly defying her order and daring her to have them arrested.

As a result, she is isolated in her efforts and looks like a Constitution-defying clown who has violated her oath of office, which actually illustrates the need for the Second Amendment. All this attention on the subject has managed to enlighten and educate more than a few people, but yeah, let's just keep saying that this is a "test" because that makes so much fucking sense. There's so much evidence to support this complete guess, it's just gotta be a test. Yep. Roll Eyes

Just because her actions are perfectly typical of irrational, emotion-drive knee-jerk leftists doing it "for the children"- that means nothing. It couldn't be that, while calling it a "test" makes you look so much more wise than those around you, not to mention, it's really fucking cool to make claims which bear no evidence at all.

Is that even true anymore? Opensecrets.org says NRA spent a total of $2,630,000 lobbying in 2022. That's a really, nice, round number. Hmmm.... down from $4,920,000 in 2021.

I don't disagree on your numbers or even NRA's lethargy. The NRA is the most well known organization amongst the general population, and the constant punching bag of the anti-civil rights leftists. The NRA serves the important function of being the face of or the symbol of law abiding gun owners in the public arena. They get the media coverage, they take the incoming fire. They open the field for other pro-rights groups to operate.

I've never heard anyone outside of the gun owner community mention any organization other than the NRA.

Thus just having the NRA mentioned as being involved will turn heads because of the perception they represent many millions of gun owning voters. No other group has that influence yet.

The NRA isn't taking incoming fire on ANYTHING except that resulting from the growing dissatisfaction of the membership! Overwhelmingly, recent history indicates that the NRA is nothing but a bumper sticker and fund raising campaign! Roll Eyes

The NRA is guilty of being AWOL, and it's conduct (or lack thereof) borders on Desertion...This during the most crucial time in recent memory! If not now, when... Mad

That admission clearly and unequivocally determined the regulation was not proper under test the Supreme Court set out for looking at gun restrictions.

It is like claiming you weren't speeding, and then admitting you were driving 100 in a school zone. Case over.

I'm still not convinced she came up with this on her own, as some last minute epiphany on how to curtail gun use by using her powers to restrict carry in an emergency.

Maybe she did, perhaps the shooting upset her and she just decided to act on her own to see what sticks. The DA's letter seems to substantiate that there wasn't a conversation regarding it's legality between her office and his... The potential downside on this is huge for gun rights over her actions, and if she prevails, well she's now on the national forefront of D politics.

Most likely this has been a discussion point at round tables between anti gun groups, their legal teams and left wing D politicians who embrace an anti gun agenda, and that's where the idea formulated

As far as Newsom Pritzker et al, they probably have better legal advice telling them the upside and down of doing this, and that a federal case could likely strike down some parts or possibly all state level carry laws making every state a constitutional carry state, that the risk wasn't worth it.

In that aspect if she acted on her own without consulting legal advice, she's incompetent, and should be impeached and taken out of office.

Some lefties have been kicking around this "health emergency" justification for a while. I guess they learned where that is likely to go.

I thought law enforcement was already notified.

There's a theory that the Governor is posturing for a cabinet position in the next administration. She is term limited and has nowhere to go right now, so she is doing this for the publicity. She has misjudged badly.

And not only funny: “The Second Amendment is not where most of your gun rights come from”—preach it, Brother; that’s exactly what I’ve been saying for years.

But although he is right that the legal challenge to the insane order would have been better based on the New Mexico constitution, there is a more fundamental reason as well and why our gun rights are not grounded in the US Constitution.

As a very distant relative of my wife put it, “The right of self defence is the first law of nature” (St. George Tucker, 1803), or as it’s stated in the Declaration of Independence, we have an inalienable right to life—and that simply means we have the right to defend our lives.

Without having the right to keep and bear the effective means of self-defense, and for the vast majority of people that means guns and only guns, then there is no effective right to self-defense. That’s what every gun owner should recognize and point out whenever our rights are under attack.

Now she is going to narrow the scope.

"That ban, the Governor says, will now only apply to open and concealed firearm carrying in “public parks and playgrounds.”

Bullshit!

She's off her rocker she ought to know better.

The shooting and death of the child that led to the first ban was road rage based. and over the past couple of days, other shootings that she's trying to address via this ban, actually happened in intersections but not in parks or playgrounds. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

She's now going to have to backtrack on her first ban's factual basis and replace it was parks and playgrounds but has no data to back that up and she's also faced with the immutable fact that law abiding CCW holders haven't ever been the problem.
