If this is indeed some type of purposeful explosion it was at a dumb time and place...

Apparently the police spent some time looking for something very specific. I'm thinking maybe it was a head or something...

Fuckers blew up one of my favorite restaurants across the street. Love Rodizio Brazilian Steakhouse.

Lots of bars and restaurants right there. If someone did that on a Saturday night they would have potential thousands of victims. That area is crazy packed on the weekends.

RV was detonated. They were already checking it out as suspicious. Lots of damage on 2nd Ave but appears to be glass and other similar light materials but no major structural damage. EDIT - a few buildings suffered massive damage.

It was strong enough to blow a fire hydrant off. A report of gunshots drew them into the area. They do not know if it was real or an attempt to draw them in. Next update is at noon.

According to the press conference officers who responded to the shot fired call found the RV suspicious enough to call the bomb squad and start evacuating the residents in the area. Much of that was complete when it detonated.

No details were provided as to why they found it suspicious enough to initiate that action.

Clearly a well planned event.

People can get away with shooting and other acts of violence but it’s hard to get away with making and setting off bombs.
