Here is some footage of protestors forced to leave a neighborhood near the police chief's house.

Protestor: “We are peaceful! You pointed a gun at my face!”

Resident: “That’s why you are peaceful.”
Cool

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

With all due respect to JHE888, who I also respect highly, that is not at all a stupid thought.
The leftist/Marxist professors even developed a theory to put it into practice. Cloward-Piven.

The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with "a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty."
Cloward and Piven were both professors at the Columbia University School of Social Work. The strategy was outlined in a May 1966 article in the liberal magazine The Nation titled "The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty".

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

10 years ago, I would have said someone is smoking some good shit. But today, I get the point. We have younger generations just wanting everything "free" and wanting guaranteed x, y, and z. They don't seem to comprehend if you want to make it in this world, and live how you want to live, you are going to have to put down your damn phone, sign off the social media applications, and do some good old fashioned bust your ass work. They want the government to be their daddy and guarantee or pay for everything and it's bs. Society would collapse.
I came from poverty. Section 8 apartments, food stamps, and the lunch program. I busted my ass and got out of it. That's America. Work for it. That's what our forefathers did, and generations past. These newer generations want to whine, torch, and protest. That's not how you get ahead in life.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

A lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in Seattle alleges that would-be protesters are prevented from demonstrating by the cost of protecting themselves from police.

Jessica Benton, Shelby Bryant, Anne Marie Cavanaugh, Alyssa Garrison, and Clare Thomas are suing the city of Seattle, claiming they were victims of “indiscriminate” police violence during June 25 protests on Capitol Hill. According to the suit, such response necessitates protective gear while demonstrating — items such as “helmets, gas masks, protective clothing, goggles, gloves, boots, umbrellas and other gear” they claim are prohibitively expensive.

Because protesters now must purchase expensive equipment to be assured that they will be able to protest safely, the indiscriminate use of weapons by SPD implicates equal protection,” the lawsuit, assigned to Chief Judge Ricardo Martinez, reads. It seeks a temporary restraining order prohibiting the police from using force or crowd-dispersal munitions, in addition to a similar injunction by Judge Richard Jones, already in place.

Attorney Talitha Hazelton of Renton filed it on Monday, writing:

"Because the Seattle Police Department has acted above and outside the law in dispensing its unbridled force, and the City has failed to prevent same, the government effect is to establish a de facto protest tax: individual protesters subjected to SPD’s unabated and indiscriminate violence now must purchase cost-prohibitive gear to withstand munitions — even when peacefully protesting — as a condition to exercising their right to free speech and peaceable assembly.

Seattle City Attorney’s Office spokesperson Dan Nolte confirmed that they will “look into these new claims and intend to defend the City in this matter.”

I run in to a lot of people who lament the fact that the country is so screwed up and that capitalism is such a failure that they're forced to work if they want to be able to eat.

This is the mentality that has been cultivated by the public education system. This is what we have to change. Ideologies are very difficult to change once entrenched.

Don't want to hear it you 5 whiny bitches. Imagine how much more it costs us gun owners to exercise our 2nd Amendment right because of all the draconian horseshit that has ensued the last decade. De facto taxes on gun owners is okay though, right Karen?

Kiro 7 just reported that homicides in King County are up 44% so far this year. Apparently they haven't seen numbers like this in decades.

Of course, they speculated that it was because of the "pandemic" and there was no mention of the riots. Roll Eyes

A gov't that gives you everything you need owns you. The safety net becomes a hammock that becomes a straight jacket.

These my friends are the definition of RETARDS. Any judge not willing to immediately throw out this case is also a RETARD. And attorney Talitha, yep you guessed it...RETARD. Talitha needs to have her law license revoked for this BS.

That needs a repeat. The reality of socialism is that the gov't feeds itself first, the masses get the leftovers.

I think it more likely that they have never even been exposed to that historic fact, such is the dumbing-down of current education practices.

And this is the thing that amazes me more about current society than anything. We have access to virtually all the information and knowledge in the world from the palm of our hand, yet people today seem more ignorant than ever. The overwhelming majority of the knowledge and skills I currently possess were self taught or administered, not spoon fed to me by a teacher or professor or government bureaucrat.

Since this whole thing got touched of with the BS in Minneapolis I have been called a racist, a Satanist, a White Supremist all because I had the audacity to state "All Lives Matter" and than anyone stating <insert race here> lives matter is in fact a racist.

I also got on a few of the live feeds of the riots and would call the rioters sissies and girly men because of their complaining about the use of CS or CN gas... heck every man Jack and every woman who has ever gone through boot camp had to go through the gas chamber and experience tear gas exposure first hand (some of us were dragged through a few times until we were snotty enough and puking enough to make the drill SGT happy).

I was surprised Sunday before last when heading west through The Dalles, OR to see people (hispanic and whites) holding signs of BLM, and all whites are white supremists (This earned them a middle finger from me as I am white, and my oldest son is 1/2 black).

I am sick of our Governor, County Commissioners, City Council, and Mayor of our little town unequally applying the mandates (protesting not maintaining "(un) social distance or wearing a mask okay, but it isn't okay to let your kids play on playgrounds in parks or have more than 25 people in a church service).

I have taken to carrying concealed at all times unless I am having to go into my office at the McNary Dam (Corps of Engineers property).

I also am noticing socialists in our little town of 3300 people more than ever as they like to espouse the Black Lives Matter and even defund police.

We are a town divided here in Boardman, OR.

I like how Boise and other towns have handled the protesting by having many armed citizens hanging out on the streets when protesters were chanting and holding up their signs.

I feel that the Federal Law enforcement in Portland had every right to use lethal force as they were out numbered and the rioters were trying (and sometimes succeeding) at causing physical harm and maiming the law enforcement.

Our county (Morrow) and Umatilla County have been put back in "lockdown" by the Governor... go figure we are two counties who are very vocal about wanting her removed from office.

I know personally of a few small businesses who have closed permanently due to the Governor's mandates and her deciding schools will be distance learning only until after 04 November.

How many in society have been brainwashed, or self-addicted to the kool-aid, by the education system, by social and news media, by the flattery of worldly enjoyments?? One day, maybe sooner than later, reality will hit.

Retired now - and for fun a p/t gun-counter jockey and I agree with this. I've seen all kinds. Complete beginners consider they may need to protect themselves for the first time. Regular sportsmen/customers and Conservatives now buy their first AR, or perhaps a carry gun, or second gun for the family. Here, these are the MOST likely to buy ammo in big quantities. Recently had a regular turn into Karen over Covid. It's as if huge aliens have shaken our planet like a snow globe (like in the Far Side cartoon), proportionately everyone is stirred up with a new need.

Quite a variety of nuanced reasons, I just want the beginners to learn "what not to do" and with great haste.
