Gonna be a little nasty the next few days. I'll have to put a few heat lamps out in the chicken coop so the girls don't get frostbit.

It looks better than it did yesterday. They were calling for 37-below tomorrow night. At least we're up to T-shirt weather now. Big Grin

It was me.

I accidentally left the refrigerator door open and let all of the cold air out. Wink

And, it's pushing down here. Good for the duck migration but hard to hunt over ice.

Brrrr and it must be moving east because it'll be a lot warmer there Christmas Eve, day and Monday, than here in northern WV.

Gonna get cold here in N.E. Ohio too.
Me personally, I like this kind of weather. The colder, the better.

I do too. Just a little concerned about the critters. Otherwise bring it on.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Quad Cities IA IL
234 PM CST Tue Dec 20 2022

Location summary: Where Sigmund lives!

234 PM CST Tue Dec 20 2022

...WINTER STORM WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING
THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5
inches. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Blizzard conditions
will also be possible, with extreme cold wind chills as well.
Wind chills as low as 30 to 40 below will be possible, especially
starting midday Thursday.

* WHERE...Portions of north central, northwest and west central
Illinois, east central, northeast and southeast Iowa and
northeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From Wednesday evening through late Friday night.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes.
Strong winds could cause tree damage and potential power
outages. The cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could
cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Uncertainty remains on snowfall totals,
but impacts from the combined effects of the wind and snow are
expected. Thus, blizzard conditions will be possible. This
will also lead to difficulty when gathering accurate
measurements of snow during the event. This will be a long
duration event, so plan appropriately prior to the start. Plan
travel around peak hours of the storm, either before or after
impacts.

Supposed to get to 9° here Thursday evening. Preps for the outdoor cats are already in place. (A small hut with a 100w incandescent bulb shining into it.) My 4 indoor cats and I will be toasty (if the power stays on -- its an all electric home).

i'm glad my Handyman and I got the outdoor lights up before this cold spell.

Yep. We're supposed to get up to 4 inches of snow and ice on Thursday, followed by a plummet to -7 with a -33 wind chill, which is likely to be a record low for that day. They're also calling for potential whiteout conditions, due to the combination of loose snow and 30+ MPH winds.

It won't be above single digits for a couple days, and won't be above the 20s for a couple more. So the snow should stick around long enough to have a white Christmas.

Hey Gustofer,

That looks like the weather for my future home.
I closed on 5 acres last month in the Polson area.
Starting to look at designing a house. Need to get the well in next year first.
