Huum. I thought that's precisely what President Trump is doing.

It seems to me that the traditional press is being challenged by social media. Professional press coverage needs to focus on telling the truth and informing the public, not trying to manipulate information to accomplish a selfish objective.

The problem for the professional press is that the public knows about trolls, manipulators and unbalanced renderings. They see the truth of what happened through interviews, You Tube and other tellings. They have to vet such things every day. The public is more sophisticated, not less.

But, the professional press still fancies itself as being able to put it over on the people. Their ability decreases every day.

President Trump is challenging who the press is. During our 241 years, the "press" tried to convince the people that only the press could get them the news. People didn't buy it but had no way to effectively counter the spewage of the "yellow" journalist.

Things have changed and now citizens even look to gun boards to triangulate the news. It's a different world and the president has recognized that.

Acosta later accused the president of trying to silence the press. Not so. He is trying to expose their foolishness and unreliability. It is the citizens who will silence press outlets by looking elsewhere for truthful news. Ratings are now a function of infotainment, not necessarily accuracy.

The press is afraid to look into the mirror to see that they have aged far from the days of the prom. The jig's up.

Maybe President Trump will retweet a doctored Godzilla video next. Average people know the difference between what is meant as serious policy and what is just a clickable message.

President Trump's Twitter has millions of followers. I dare say that he keeps it mixed with humor, entertainment and policy. I am not sure how many would have followed Gerald Ford.
