Any estimate from a respectable source on the number of people in attendance at the inauguration today?

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

I'm sure it was less than any of Barry's, but then again, some of us work for a living... Wink

That would be hilarious if the protestors were included just to find out they were responsible for the largest turnout ever.

Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.

Mattis sworn in as SecDef.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I liked Pence's success in his home state but I believe years of Trump's influence may add another dimension to his political abilities.

When Trump picked him, I saw Trump as looking to the future of the party and a philosophy that is far from the nosefensive policies of the left - for years to come. And in the meantime, Pence has the tools to take Trump's brash and mold it through a wider political door.

Another dimension is a good way to put it. When Pence was picked I had to do a little research and my first thought was almost "one dimensional" as it pertains to the modern political landscape. Conservative but old school. I think his time with Trump will broaden not only his appeal but his political accumen without affecting his core beliefs. That is a good thing.

I see him going far.

Trump is a guy who remedies cowardice. That is not directed at Pence but I believe too many of our leaders were long-paralyzed with a fear of slurs like sexism, racism, homophobia and etc. Trump is unashamedly flying under a different flag - a flag that seems wholly unfamiliar to Republicans even when they have the majority: Results.

Here's to hoping the days of timidity are gone. As we have heard before, pale colors may avoid conflict and shaming but we need vivid colors. Trying to avoid poo slinging from the back end of a hippo is just not realistic if you are forced to be in close proximity. We need to expect the crap but get results anyway.

Heard Limbaugh play the TV audio from Battle Hymn of the Republic as song by the Army Choir at an Inaugural the evening before. I'd say a tone was being set for Inauguration day. Hearing it sung really gave me goose bumps, before Rush said it was giving him goosebumps.

Battle Hymn of the Republic was one of the very first English language songs I learned here while attending Sunday school here after my arrival many years ago.

Now to get me a copy.

It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.

Ayn Rand

"He gains votes ever and anew by taking money from everybody and giving it to a few, while explaining that every penny was extracted from the few to be giving to the many."

When I heard that song begin last night as the fireworks started my first thought was "oh this is real. And that is the most perfect song to set the tone". The theme, the music, and the entire show were in perfect harmony.

President Trump enters the Oval Office for the first time and immediately signs executive order to 'ease the burden of Obamacare

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new...arade-kicks-off.html

President Donald Trump signed his first executive orders on Friday within minutes of his White House arrival
For his first official act as president, he declared General James Mattis as Secretary of Defense
The second order was less precise - it vowed somewhat vaguely to 'ease the burden of Obamacare'
The orders came within minutes of Trump's official entrance to the White House after the Inaugural Parade
