And we all know that his family didn't plan this funeral. You can bet he planned every detail of his own damn funeral in his dying days. Just shows what a vindictive megalomaniac he really was.

Only John McCain can be a bigger asshole in death.

Thank you, Governor Palin, for showing class to the classless.

Got a laff out if the coverage. The Fox News reporter covering it was talking to Kelly Ayotte.

"Do you have any funny stories about Sen McCain you can tell while they are loading his coffin onto the airplane?"

(Why, yes, I can come up with a couple dead guy jokes, if you give me a minute...) Eek

To blame her is pretty harsh (and I see that from some people on our side, too). Could he have picked a better running mate? Maybe, but the old bore was never going to win no matter who he picked, because he himself was a terrible candidate and campaigner, almost to the point of making one wonder if he wanted to lose. Moreover, in the wake of the recession, no Republican could have won that year.

I know that mccain's staff blamed Palin, though I honestly never heard him do it. They weren't the type to make honest introspective assessments, anyway. The way I saw it, the ONLY reason zippy the wonder turtle didn't win in a landslide is because of the passion and energy Palin brought to the campaign. NOBODY was 'fired up' over mccain. He was as bland as unflavored oatmeal.
She had YUGE crowds at her events. He did not .

I agree with you Hound Dog. McCain would have lost by even more had it not been for Palin. There was no way the liberals in the country were going to pick McCain over Obama and it was stupid of the GOP to try and field a middle of the road candidate. He might have been able to win against Gore or Kerry but never against Obama.

To win against Obama we would have needed someone as far right as he was left and that damn sure wasn't McCain. The McCain/Palin ticket probably would have got more votes if it had been Palin/McCain.

McCain believing that 1) he would have won but for Palin along with 2) his spite from the grave gives credence to the idea that his brain really was affected.

As said, Palin acted with class. She energized a bad campaign.

Hopefully, McCain will be the last Republican presidential candidate chosen and foisted on us by the inner sanctum.

I remember a guy who said that Republicans needed to paint in bright colors. McCain was quite boring as a candidate.

To think that Lieberman would have overcome the "history-making" opponent's voters is worse than nonsense.

How many more days will the flags be at half staff? Seriously, you'd think President Lincoln died again.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if Slow Joe had asked his good friend John to stand up and take a bow.

My God, the pomp and ceremony of this is just plain sickening.

What is it, exactly, about this guy that demands this type of response to his death?

So, he was a Senator for 30+ years. There have been a lot of 30+ year Senators who have died and none of them received this type of response (that I am aware of...other than perhaps that other piece of shit Kennedy).

So, maybe it was his POW status? Lots of guys have been POWs. Any of them receive this type of reception? Nope.

So, maybe it was that fact that he was a twice failed Presidential candidate? Nope again.

This is just disgusting and I have no doubt whatsoever that it was all orchestrated by him. His "dying wishes".

I'm going to go puke.

Oh, and how much money is all of this shit costing the US taxpayers? Not that John McCain would give a damn.

This message has been edited. Last edited by: Gustofer,
