Even Snopes won't say that the cut was not political and they ended ties. that's saying something from them.

A guy wants to commit a murder and thinks the best way to cover his tracks is to commit several murders, these others being camouflage.

Burn down an entire building and kill a bunch of programs err people, to cover up your true intent.

I'm not saying that's what happened, but I can see such a scheme being cooked up by people in a conference room.

Oh, sorry, I misread you. Well yeah, if Snopes can't find a way to spin it, that's saying something.

After those 2 hours, any sane CEO would (in the situation that you spoke of) immediately reach out to the NRA contact, clear the air, and issue a press release and social media statement. All this would be done no later than midnight.

Sorry. For this response to come out so late on Monday... not buying it.

EDIT: Also, I have yet to see any proof that what Yeti states is true. Show me an email, letter, etc that is winding down the program...

..and very Yup.

Given the very climate and actions against the NRA right now by other companies, a move to separate a relationship with the NRA at any level/reason, will strike any member of the NRA as being suspicious. Yeti may in fact have been genuine in their motives, however, their inability to read the tea-leaves and get the water temperature is a failure on their part.
There's many other super cooler brands out there that are exceeding what Yeti is doing, they just happen to be the most well known.

If it was such a "misunderstanding", why is it that Pelican jumped on board so quickly with a rival offer?

Isn't it odd that an ABC News affliate is reporting that they "cut ties"? So is the news media reporting fake news now? Did they not find the actual reason? Or was the reason as the NRA claimed?

Even if it's true that they are changing their discounting program with all organizations, I think it is merely an excuse to cut ties with the NRA now. They were just trying to do it under the table while no one was looking. After it was done and the NRA was out of the picture, they could go back to any other organization affected and cut them a new deal.

I personally have always thought they were overpriced so don't own any of their products. I was also unlikely to have ever bought anything from them either, so they haven't lost anything from me. My travel mug is a 52oz plastic insulated mug from Wawas.

I got a response from Yeti from the email I sent them on their position on the NRA:

{snip}

We're writing in response to your recent email inquiry.

A few weeks ago, YETI notified the NRA Foundation, as well as a number of other organizations, that we were eliminating a group of outdated discounting programs. When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations of this change, YETI explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation. These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the NRA-ILA distributed on April 20.

Further, the NRA-ILA stated in that same public communication that "[YETI has] declined to continue helping America's young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities." Nothing is further from the truth. YETI was founded more than 10 years ago with a passion for the outdoors, and over the course of our history we have actively and enthusiastically supported hunters, anglers and the broader outdoor community. We have been devoted to and will continue to directly support causes tied to our passion for the outdoors, including by working with many organizations that promote conservation and management of wildlife resources and habitat restoration. From our website to our film footage and from our social media posts to our ambassadors, YETI has always prominently featured hunters pursuing their passions. Moreover, YETI is unwavering in our belief in and commitment to the Constitution of the United States and its Second Amendment.

Thanks for reaching out to YETI.

I also got this canned response. My initial thought was to reply and say something like "oh, I understand it's not really political at all... well, I still won't buy any of your over priced garbage, so stick it."

I kind of thought that I would take the high road, since I usually never travel there.

Let's play devil's advocate for a moment and assume 'all' of this is 100% accurate. In today's political climate, could Yeti be so tone deaf and/or clueless to not know any change in the NRA/Yeti relationship would likely be blown out of all proportion by both sides?

I'd really like to think the ownership and management of Yeti are savvy enough to have read the prevailing winds and known better than to step in this. Yet step in it they appear to have done.

Well it’s started, just saw a video of a Yeti cooler, packed with 22lbs of Tannerite, shot with an AR. It blew up real good. At the feed store today , they were already marking all their Yeti stuff down to get rid of it.

Notice how they put this at the very end. It seems tacked on as an afterthought, and it's a dispassionate statement, at best.

The more I think about this, the more I feel that we got this one right. Yeti tried to be slick about it but someone at the NRA saw what was actually happening.

Now that the cooler insulation cat is out of the bag, Yeti is not the only ones that can keep ice from melting for days, so they’ve effectively shot themselves in the foot. Dead center. I’ve considered one of these super-coolers, and these fools have removed themselves from any chance of being in the running. Even a cheap, used deal.

Yup. I have some tumblers. I won’t destroy them anymore than I would burn 20 dollar bills in protest, but they have seen my last business.

In all honesty I think their business model of overpriced products was going to derail anyway but carrying cinder blocks while swimming is a good way to hasten the end.

Screw them. I hate virtue signaling.
