Nice!

I love a happy ending.

Hopefully the home owner can put this behind him and move on.

I’m always interested in the actual shooting itself..must be the cop in me.

What gun,
Caliber,
Bullets/ammo brand and size,
Where the hits were ( front abdomen, right shoulder etc),
How many shots

They already signed their death warrants.

I have no problem laughing at bad shit happening to bad people.

Three teens putting on masks and committing armed robbery aren't turning their lives around, they would have just cost taxpayers money over and over again. Not only that dude may have saved some lives.

So what. The homeowner was up at 4:00AM. Since when do adults have curfews.

I'm up at 4AM when I have to be at work by 6AM. Plus his mom was out there with him, so I don't think he was breaking curfew.

The story suffers from poor writing as usual. Pertinent details are omitted. The article should include a disclaimer indicating these are the facts as we CURRENTLY know them.

Due to the nature of the work that I do, I often am able to learn the details of certain cases that are not generally released to the press and clarify the motives of the parties involved. Criminal defense attorneys, cops and detectives often have the inside scoop so to speak.

When I first purchased this house I'm living in now, the previous owner had just installed new sod both in the front and back yards. It was beautiful, and I struggled to keep it nice. But, unfortunately, when the sod was installed, there was no screen laid down first, and the gophers quickly made an incredible mess of it. I would set traps, and when I would go check on the traps and pull a dead gopher out of the hole, I felt *happiness.* The gophers that were making my yards look horrible were short one more gopher - and it gave me satisfaction.

I disagree with your assessment of the OP's story. Those three teenagers were JUST GETTING STARTED in a LIFETIME of crime which would have brought nothing but extreme hardship and sadness into the lives of countless people.

You said, "Nobody wins." I disagree. The hundreds of people who will never suffer at the hands of those miscreants will surely disagree with you, too.

Perhaps you've never lived among these types of animals. Maybe you have no idea what their world-view is like and how hopeless they are and how they will never be an asset to society.

The world is much better off WITHOUT people who will break into your home and kill you for the few lousy cents-on-the-dollar a fence will give them for your hard-earned goods. No - this is a good thing - it's a happy ending.

What if the homeowner and family were engaged in criminal enterprise? Say, a drug house.

Would it be a justified shooting? Just wondering.

My guess is the intended victims aren’t necessarily squeaky clean, but from the news thus far the police are leaning toward a good shoot.

Hmmm. Maybe you guys are made of tougher stuff than me. Maybe your battle armor is stronger than mine. You just may be made of stronger stuff. I'll grant you that.

I can't imagine the psychological trauma that goes into taking a human life. There are even occasions where people enlist, complete their training, and are scarred by the experience, having never to face an enemy on the battlefield.

Is this trauma worse than killing people that are trying to kill you? I might guess not. I'm just saying we don't know the consequences that even those who acted in the right might have to face, even decades from now.

Also, it is comfortable to sit in front of a computer screen and say how the killing of someone would make you happy. It's easy to be brave behind a keyboard. In real life? Not so much. In the real world, taking another life is going to mess with your mind a little. Or, at least it should.

And, before you go down that path, I'm no hipster, flower power, rainbow farting, make love not war, unicorn. I know what I am capable of in various situations, and I'm fine with that.

Again, I have strong convictions when it comes to justice. It's funny how sometimes we get the justice we deserve. I'm not arguing that. I don't have any reservations when it comes to a person having to pay for their actions.

I'm merely saying this whole situation is sad. Especially for those that will have to live with it.

H&K-Guy

ETA: I don't have anything against you guys, and I see the validity to some of your arguments. I respect and value your opinions and hope you feel the same way about me.

I disagree. Society benefits from the removal of those that serve no purpose to humanity and only seek to harm and take from others.

As for the survivors, were it me I would sleep peacefully every night knowing I was the one to remove them from existence. You lament taking a human life as do I. But I do not acknowledge these types as human so there is no regret.

Maybe, maybe not, but there could be for what would have otherwise been future victims.

How many commit armed robbery successfully at 15 or 16 and then hang it up and fly right. The thugs were likely doomed to a life of crime, with no telling how many victims.

As for the shooter having to live with it for the rest of his life... the operative phrase here is "rest of his life", as in, he ain't the dead one.
