I'm not a moly worshiper but Holy Moly !!! tOSU is leaving it on the field tonight. Gonna be some sore folks after this game. Maybe too early to call but looks like tOSU and Alabama. Hella matchups there too. Teams look about even to me and at the end of the day, with maybe a slight advantage to the running QB ... if he's healthy for the game. Just adds another dimension. Should be GAME

So much for the BS about tOSU not "deserving" to be in the playoffs Smile

Sugar Bowl / Semi-final Playoff Wrap-up:
What a dominant win by tOSU. They owned the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Game started off with an exciting back and forth 1st quarter that ended up 14-14. tOSU dominated the 2nd quarter with Clemson punting every possession and tOSU scoring a TD every possession. The Buckeyes went into half-time leading 35-14 and had amassed nearly 400 yards offense.

Third quarter starts with tOSU driving down the field and looking like they were really going to run up the score. However, a d-lineman tipped a pass and Clemson intercepted it in the end zone. They drove down the field and scored a TD. That's as good as it got for Clemson in the 2nd half as Lawrence had a meltdown fumbling 3x (his teammates recovered 2) and throwing a INT.

Kudos:
  • All of the tOSU players and coaches. That was a dominant performance in every aspect. Great game plan and execution leading to dismantling one of the best offenses and defenses in the country.
  • tOSU o-line - dominated the line of scrimmage which allowed the offense to rack up 639 yards. 5.8 yards per rush and 13.8 yards per pass.
  • tOSU QB Fields - 22 completions for 385 yards and 6 TDs plus another 42 yards rushing. 4 of those TDs came after getting speared in the ribs and obviously playing in pain.
  • tOSU RB Sermon - 31 carries for 193 yards (6.2 ypc) and a TD. He also had 61 yards receiving.
  • tOSU WR Olave - the speedster really stretched the field and ended up with 6 receptions for 132 yards and 2 TDs.
  • tOSU defense - Their front 7 stuffed the run (44 yards) and put a ton of pressure on Lawrence. Their DBs made a lot of big stops.

Maybe Dabo will learn not to run his mouth. Probably not. Clem’s son only had 44 yards rushing. Lmao

    Way to go Buckeyes!

After the game, a reporter asked him whether or not he regretted making the comments that motivated Ohio State and he denied that they motivated Ohio State. What a putz.

Ohio State did an amazing job hiding the best running back in the country for most of the season. Smile The running back dual with Alabama should be interesting.

Fields is one tough kid. Props to him for gutting it out AND delivering.

All through the broadcast all I heard was how great Clemson's defense and the coordinator was. I guess that only applies when playing ACC teams...

Now on to the elephant. Go Bucks!!!

Jan 2nd Big Ten Bowl Game
  • Ole Miss @ IU at 11:30 AM central time on ABC in Tampa for the Outback Bowl. IU is favored by 9 1/2 points. Statistically Ole Miss is 10 points per game better on offense but IU is 21 points per game better on defense. IU will be playing with their excellent back-up QB who beat a ranked team his only start. Ole Miss got curb stomped the two times they faced ranked teams, but IU was 3-1 versus ranked teams including narrowly losing to tOSU (faired better than Clemson). IU wins and covers.

Good win for OSU. Probably best to retain a little humility though.

Putz. Have not heard that in a while. Dabo had it coming. At least we were spared his dancing with the team.

IU just came back to tie it up with 6 minutes left in the 4th. They're on ABC.

Yep. And Ole Miss made a TD and could not convert PAT. I bet Lane is a little unsettled.

    Outback Bowl Wrap-up:
IU's team looked like they just stepped off a plane into the heat & humidity and weren't acclimated. Also, most of the game it looked like Ole Miss was 21 ppg better on defense instead of IU. It wasn't much of a game until late in the 3rd when IU scored and then in first possession in 4th scored to tie it up. However, IU's defense got torched for a 44 yard pass leaving Ole Miss 1st and goal who punched it in in short order. Final drive of the game IU managed 2 first downs and then IU stopped pass blocking.

IU had an amazing season, but I can't imagine this is how they wanted to end it.

In defense of Indiana, without Michael Penix, they’re not the same team.

And they only played our other outstanding running back one play... Williams aka Bowling Ball. I think they are saving his debut for Bama. He can run through any line.
And our starting O lineman will be back by then also.

Before kicking things off, it's a good time for a decorum reminder for non-conference fans visiting this thread.

  • National Championship:
Jan 11th - The Ohio State University (tOSU) Buckeyes face-off with Alabama Crimson Tide at 7:00 Central Time on ESPN. Currently, the spread is 8 points but it'll fluctuate over the next 8 days. Statistically, Bama is is 5 ppg better on offense and 2.5 ppg better on defense. Both teams have high powered offenses that rack up 535+ yards per game, but they differ how they do it with tOSU being 50/50 run/pass and Alabama being 35/65 run/pass. Both teams are undefeated.

I'm obviously rooting for tOSU, but will reserve my spread prediction for closer to game time.

Who are y'all rooting for? What is your prediction on score, spread, etc?

OSU looked really good against Clemson, but Bama has been dominant all year. I think the Tide wins it in a close one.
