I think the injury to Fields will play a part. I am little concerned they did not do Xrays and just shot him up. At the very least he has bruised ribs. These sorts of injuries hurt a lot more the next day.

So Alabama is favored by 8. Don't think tOSU would agree. Alabama and tOSU last played in 2015. Alabama was a 7.5 point favorite. tOSU won 42-35. In fact, tOSU is 8-1 when an underdog. The lone loss was a controversial loss to Clemson last year in the playoffs. None of that matters. It will boil down to coaching and player's personal desire to win ... and the way an oblong pig hide sphere bounces ... and watch out for zebras. Don't know which conference the game officials will be from. Should be a great game. Both teams absolutely deserve to be there. Devonta Smith is a legendary receiver but No.17 Jaylen Waddle will be sorely missed (out with injury). Go get your 7th National Championship Nick (6th at Alabama, and breaking a tie with Paul "Bear" Bryant) !!! Roll Tide Roll !!! EDIT: Alabama doesn't use trick plays often, they just keep coming atcha. But if they do need to pull one out of the hat, look for a trick play involving Alabama tight end Miller Forristall. Forristall was high school quarterback at Cartersville (Georgia) until a guy named Trevor Lawrence showed up and took over. Maybe a flip or backward pass to Forristall who then throws down field. Hey, it could happen. You heard it here first.

This was the biggest concern with OSU going into the playoffs - their inability to keep their team/staff COVID free or COVID minimized. (A big issue in the Big 10). There is no doubt they are talented enough and certainly a #2 or #1 Team in NCAAF, but can they arrive at the Big Show healthy and intact?

It doesn't help that tOSU is in a city of 900,000 people and the area has about 12% of the cases in Ohio. Quite a contrast to Alabama being in a city of just a little over 100,000 people and the area has about 5% of the cases in Alabama. Before the BCS playoffs and championship game and for decades, there was just a vote on who was No.1. Usually the final vote was after the bowl games and every eligible team this year has played in at least one bowl game. And the final standings used to come out right after New Years. It's January already for pete sake and middle of Jan next week. Rather than postpone, maybe they just need to vote on the final standings and move on, put the COVID year behind them. Players and coaches alike have futures and commitments that will be met. To expect them to stand still indefinitely is unreasonable. So maybe a No.1 with an asterisk.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Sound familiar from the Big Ten?? The number of cases of Covid has more to do with the protocols the coaches have in place than anything else. University of Illinois has a very low rate among students, compared to the rest of Champaign County.

My vote - play it before last day to commit to NFL or don't play it at all. Neither team will be the same if they do it without the NFL commitments. Of course Jan 18th, isn't set in stone... As an SEC fan (Miss. State here), I admit to not watching much of OSU's games. I did watch the Clemson game, and OSU is stout. They manhandled Clemson from every angle, looked like a child being taken to the woodshed. That said, as an SEC fan who's watched Bama play for years, they are notorious for coming in, playing a close game, then beating a team by a touchdown or two while "saving up" for the next (bigger, tougher) game on the schedule. I'm not saying that's what they did with ND, but I honestly don't think ND was much of a challenge either. I'll be very interested in watching the game though. Also, the OSU QB has all of my respect for the stones it took to get up and keep playing through that pain. Tough, tough kid. ________________________________________________ "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. You'd think they'd know if the game was going to happen or not just several days before the scheduled date. But there is that uncertainty these days, all the way up until kickoff I guess. ... or name them both co-Champions with an asterisk. Co-Champions have happened in the past when one poll vote a team No1 and a different poll selects a different team. Off the top of my head, 1957 comes to mind. Auburn and tOSU were co-Champions.

The best reply to a tweet ever was by Cardale Jones. In response to Nick Sabens daughter. She said Ohio State was lying about covid outbreaks and was just wanting more time for Fields to heal. Cardale answered... About 11 hours until kick-off (7 PM Central). Before kicking things off, it's a good time for a decorum reminder for non-conference fans visiting this thread. National Championship: Jan 11th - The Ohio State University (tOSU) Buckeyes face-off with Alabama Crimson Tide at 7:00 Central Time on ESPN. Currently, the spread is 8.5 points. Statistically, Bama is is 5 ppg better on offense and 2.5 ppg better on defense. Both teams have high powered offenses that rack up 535+ yards per game, but they differ how they do it with tOSU being 50/50 run/pass and Alabama being 35/65 run/pass. Both teams are undefeated. I’m going with tOSU to pull off the upset. What are your predictions? Who are you rooting for?
