I, for one, am completely comfortable with it being destroyed later on. After they get comfortable. They wanna live in the stone age, lets keep 'em there.

By then, the CCP will have moved in and taken Bagram completely over for their operations.

Alaska seems to be a strange choice for relocation.

50-100 Afghan evacuees expected in Alaska, beginning later this month

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Up to about 100 Afghan evacuees are expected to arrive in Alaska beginning later this month.

Individuals and families affected by the Taliban takeover will be arriving in Alaska between September until March of next year.

The announcement was shared in a press release that includes U.S. government agencies, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic Social Services Refugee Assistance and Immigration Services.

Catholic Social Services is said to be the only resettlement agency in the state, and is spearheading the support of the state’s anticipated arrivals.

“These new arrivals are vulnerable populations, such as children, women, and elderly,” the release stated. “Many have worked for the US government or military in Afghanistan in positions such as translators.”

Evacuees have been mass transported out of Afghanistan since Aug. 14, the release said. Of those headed to Alaska, the release said “approximately 50-100″ of the evacuees will find refuge in the state.

...so was the Lutheran church sponsoring Hmong resettlement in Minneapolis in the '70s and doing the same for Somali's in the 90's.

I'd like to think that those actually fleeing conflict where the US was a major player, those folks tend to be much adaptive and grateful; contrast that to those who are simply re-locating because of poor governance and poor fiscal management.

The US Government has a poor record of placing displaced people. Ask the Seminole and Cherokee Native Americans.

I was raised Lutheran, but got a triple dose of mainstream religion.

Had friends and family as mainstream Catholic.

Went to a private Methodist school up thru grade 8.

My paternal grandfather was Oklahoma Nation Cherokee.

I feel current religion sucks at this.. The answer to everything is bring them here so we can all feel better instead of trying to fix where they are at?

Can't fit the worlds population into several countries.

There is a reason Moses and the Jews wanted to get the hell out. It just won't work.

Shit's sake, how often did the Indians and Mexicans slaughter each other before we even got here?

There is no way this forced mixing of religions and ethics will end well.

I really hope I'm wrong.

Yep. Not for the flock or needy. For themselves

I'm willing to bet Jesus would take a whip to them all if he came down here for vacation.......

Senate Foreign Relations chair: Defense Sec. Austin declined to testify on Afghanistan withdrawal

New Jersey Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez threatens to subpoena Pentagon chief, if he doesn't testify.

https://justthenews.com/govern..._campaign=newsletter

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez said Tuesday that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin refused to testify on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and he threatened to issue a subpoena if Austin doesn't agree to testify in the near future.

Menendez made the comments during a hearing Tuesday with Secretary of State Antony Blinken about the Biden administration's handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal of U.S. military troops in Afghanistan after 20 year in that country.

"I'm very disappointed that Secretary Austin declined our request to testify today," said Menendez, a New Jersey Democrat. "A full accounting of the U.S. response to this crisis is not complete without the Pentagon — especially when it comes to understanding the complete collapse of the U.S. trained and funded Afghan military. His decision not to appear before the committee will affect my judgement on Department of Defense nominees."

The Afghan military collapsed in mid-August as the last of the U.S. troops were leaving by an Aug. 31 deadline, resulting in the Taliban seizing control of the country and a chaotic evacuation of Americans. During the evacuation, there were 13 U.S. service members killed by a suicide bomber.

"I expect that the secretary will avail himself to the committee in the near future," Menendez said. "If he does not, I may consider the use of the committee's subpoena power to compel him and others over the course of these last twenty years to testify."

Sen. Jim Risch of Idaho, the committee's top Republican, said the committee has many questions for Austin and also called on him to testify.

Gen. Austin Miller, former Commander of US forces-Afghanistan, told the Senate Armed Services Committee in a classified hearing yesterday he advised against the Afghanistan withdrawal, two sources confirm to me.

According to two members present for the hearing, Gen Miller passed his recommendations through the chain of command -- that the US should keep a level of troops on the ground (2500 was the number at the time) in order to maintain stability given the Taliban threat assessment.

Miller's view was troops should maintain holding pattern – potentially supplemented by add'l forces from allied nations – given the threat. Miller shared no recommendation on how long forces should have stayed, making clear he didn’t know what the end timeline would be.

Miller also said that he strongly dissented with the intel assessment that Afghanistan would fall to the Taliban between 1-3 years, saying he thought it would go much, much faster.

Miller also said once his recommendation was turned down, it became his job to execute on the withdrawal order – and eventually, decisions like abandoning Bagram were made because of constraints and troop caps imposed by the President’s orders.

For example, the 1k soldiers at Bagram were essentially forced out because they had no life support, and none was coming – because of President’s withdrawal timeline and troop cap.

Gen. Milley said the same thing to @JenGriffinFNC in her exclusive interview. The President’s troop cap, which has not been reported much, was a limit of about 500 to guard the Embassy and 500 to help NATO ally Turks guard the airport in Kabul...Troops at Bagram in the end were not troops designed to hold and defend an airfield -- that would have required 5-6000 troops to be inserted – which was not possible given the orders to withdraw on the WH timeline.

Overall this jives w/ prior reports: in March, Milley made impassioned case to keep troops in Afghanistan. His view was shared by Miller, and SecDef Austin - though somewhat lesser.
It further makes case POTUS rebuffed commanders, pressed on w/ full withdrawal against advice.

Our top officials have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

General says it is unlikely ISIS-K members killed in August Kabul drone strike: 'A tragic mistake'
The airstrike resulted in multiple civilian casualties

"We now assess that it is unlikely that the vehicle and those who died were associated with ISIS-K or a direct threat to US forces," McKenzie said of the airstrike at a briefing.

The drone strike, which was intended to target ISIS-K operatives, resulted in the deaths of an aid worker and up to nine of his family members, including seven children.

[sarcasm]Apparently the Taliban, al Qaeda, and ISIS-K weren't terrorizing and killing Afghanis, U.S. citizens, and coalition partners stranded behind enemy lines fast enough to suit his agenda, so Biden's "top" people decided to step up the effort and provide a little 'motivational example' of their own. Imagine what they who are protecting Joe build back dumber Biden would call Trump had he presided over this slaughter. I heard the general say he takes full responsibility. What value is that without painful consequences?

That's how the left does it. They just shrug their shoulders and move onto the next thing to be wrong about. They have no shame.
