And who would be nominated to be the new VP? Bernie Sanders? Elizabeth Warren? Mayor Pete?

The situation of an 'appointed' VP isn't going to arise.

25th Amendment: Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

So if gropey trips, stumbles, falls,or is other wise uninclined to perform his duties the Dems will not let him go.

The 25th calls for concurrence of both houses of congress which in my elderly mind ain't goin' to happen; not for cackles or anybody else.

So then what happens, no VP, right? And then...the appt. is approved by the ever eroding Dim house and it ties at 50-50 in the senate. With out a majority the motion fails, no VP, no bills pass, ever again as long as gropey is in the White House. The dims will take this horse shit over the catastrophe of them not being in charge.

So my money says we keep these two rocket surgeons we have now for the duration or until an election that give Rs a majority in both houses.

Parabellum's second post on page 41 perfectly describes Biden's entire political career from day one. I remember back in the early 80's when Biden would pop up or spout off I'd get a dreadful sense about him. Same way I get about AOC, Tlaib and Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg....among others. But Biden has always been suspicious to me like he was hiding something terrible.

You think Joe Biden is good for another three and a half years of this? He's losing his mind right in front of this nation. He's not going to make it to the end of his term.

If Biden makes it to December I will be surprised, but the Dems have to get rid of Kamala first install a VP they want my guess is Kerry or HRC. Then Joe will resign due to illness.

Let's just get away from this altogether.

Back to the subject at hand, please. Afghanistan. Stranded Americans.

I have read that several well-connected people (Tom Cotton, Pete Hegseth, for example) are working to help aid the rescues in some way.

Seeing that, I wonder what contributions that average fellas like me could make to help the efforts. Or do we simply watch and pray?

God bless America.

I heard that Lara Logan started a gofundme to assist getting people out. I will see if I can find more info and edit this post.

Edit: I was mistaken. Lara Logan did not start this gofundme, she recommended it. Here is her tweet.

I am not familiar with the folks behind this gofundme, but here is the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/afg...Pj40HluFnfK6gDEvsPT8.

At this point the only logical explanation (yes that's a stretch) is that there was a deal with the Taliban to lay low and do nothing as the withdrawal progressed, giving the appearance that the Afghan gov't and defense forces were doing their part. A condition of this deal was probably the early abandonment of Bagram.

Of course, the Taliban didn't uphold their end of the deal and took the country over quickly - and probably claim that if they did not, ISIS-K (ISIS Kurz? Little ISIS?) would take over instead so it was a necessary change to the deal. Now they are probably demanding a lot of money to let Americans out, as others have suggested.

So, with a deal in place, Biden and his gang of idiots weren't worried - "we got this" - or so they thought. Then they got blindsided when the Taliban broke the deal, leaving them impotent to do much of anything about it.

Tends to explain everything, and why they are still trying to negotiate safe passage with the Taliban, and so far have not pledged to unleash hell fury on them if any Americans get hurt. That might result in the "deal" being made public and sinking what is left of this administration.

Americans need to start facing the reality that this Afghanistan debacle isn’t just incompetence..
Just like the national security & humanitarian disaster on our southern border, the destruction of our newfound energy independence, the capitulation to Xi & Putin, the killing of Trump’s V Shaped recovery and the renewed regulatory assault on the private sector. . . . this is all DELIBERATE and Sleepy Joe doesn’t have the slightest clue what’s going on because he isn’t calling the shots.

Forces of evil are running our country.

Stolen Elections Have Consequences.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

British Ministers are Now Openly Stating Their Belief That Biden Has Gone ‘Completely Mad’

“In London ministers and their advisers watched with incredulity,” the Sunday Times reported. “One minister said the president ‘looked gaga’. An aide described the press conference as ‘completely mad’ and the president as ‘doolally’. Such thoughts are normally never whispered in Whitehall, let alone briefed.”

I reckon he’s formed a tolerance to whatever drug cocktail they gave him to get through the debates. This was inevitable.
