That video that PAsig posted; I was just waiting for someone in that crowd to fire an RPG at that C17 as it was starting to roll.

The more that is coming out of A-stan the more of a total shitshow this really is, is revealed

Sorry, that wasn't my intent. Biden made the decision.

I have a question for those well-versed in the Koran: If you are an Afghan soldier and you give your weapons up to the Taliban and surrender, do you still get your 72 virgins when they execute your ass?

I broke from habit and tuned into this this afternoon. Listening to Austin and Milley makes it very clear why this is such a cluster**** right now.

The question I wanted someone to ask Milley: "So after 20 years and a half a trillion dollars of US taxpayer dollars for your forces to train the Afghans for this day, you had no idea whatsoever they would fold like a house of cards when the time came?"

Followup comment: "You sir are a liar and a disgrace to that uniform you're wearing."

Yep, but all the virgins are male.

They literally refused to say that they would get all Americans out of there. Simply unbelievable. Impeachable.

Impeachable, yes, absolutely. Of course, this won't happen, but it really illustrates the danger of using impeachment for political purposes. Now we have genuinely impeachble actions by a POTUS, but the Trump-hating shitstain totalitarians who call themselves "Democrats" wearied the American people of the process, and over nothing.

And, Milley- they ought to jail that confused son of a bitch

In times past leaving one American behind, captive, trapped or otherwise was unacceptable, these clowns are telling us thousands will be left behind; a.) when our capabilities are exhausted = what we have for support will be overrun by the taliban, or b.) the clock runs out and the taliban says get out, no more. How in seven months did we get here?

How did we get here? Donald Trump was harsh on Twitter. Orange man bad, so any empty suit the left propped up, their useful idiots voted for. They would have voted a cardigan sweater into office if it meant no more Trump.

As always with leftists, the end justifies the means.

We are going to get hit by terrorists again.

They will "trace" them back to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

We’ll go back, rebuild bases, and start all over again.

It will cost the lives of many of our men and women.

Like it says on the Head and Shoulders bottle; “rinse and repeat”.

Why would “the clock run out?” Some artificial self-imposed deadline of 31 Aug? We could just stay until we are satisfied we have gotten our all the Americans and Afghans we can and want to take.

Inside a few square mile perimeter, surrounded by tens of thousands of hostiles, who could simply bombard the airport, overrun the airport using the mass of civilians as human cover, and/or shoot down any incoming/outgoing aircraft if they were so inclined?

See Dien Bien Phu. That's called a siege, and it rarely ends well.

The opportunity for an indefinite stay is over.

(In addition, many of the Americans or friendly Afghans are elsewhere in the city/countryside, not within the airport perimeter. And currently, we apparently have little to no capability to project power outside the airport.)

As it relates to HKIA, there's quite a variety of US aircraft on the ground, granted this is the only piece of ground that we hold so, everything is consolidated there.

The Iran hostage crisis started in 1979 when Iran seized 52 Americans.

The Taliban could potentially have thousands of American hostages. I have a feeling the Taliban is not going to just let them walk out. They are controlling the access from Kabul to the airport.

They are holding all the cards at this point. They essentially have thousands of hostages and don't have to take custody of them right now.

If the U.S. started bringing in large numbers of troops the killings will begin. And now the Taliban is armed to the teeth with American weapons.
This situation is probably one of the worst nightmare scenarios the U.S. could find it's self in. The longer this goes on the more embarrassment it will cause to the American government, even if no citizens are killed.

Look how it defined Carter's presidency.

I’m not talking indefinite, at any rate we can take whatever we want including the whole country back and hold it for another 20 years. We can certainly stay as long as needed to get our people out and the Taliban would be wise to just let us go…
