Went completely off the rails (thanks YouTube videos) and made pre-prohibition grenadine. A 1901 recipe, not a bit of pomegranate involved. First time ever making anything that requires graduated cylinders, beakers, and stuff like phosphoric acid and clove oil… oddly, this is the first time in recorded history that something went as well for in real life as it did for the guy in the video!

Then, off to make a 1920s recipe for what they called a “Left Hand Bacardi Cocktail”.

2 oz Cuban style rum (Planteray 3 Star)
1 oz Dry Gin (Tanqueray)
1 oz Grenadine
1 oz fresh lime juice
Shake and serve.

This is going to be awesome for summer!

Went back in time and whipped up an Aviation!

Gin, Marischino, fresh lemon juice, and Crème de Violette. I add a couple ml of blue curaçao to edge the color to the blue side.

A nice crisp flavor to go along with the unusual nice weather we are getting up here!

Just a little Cap’n Morgan & coke. I like things a fair bit stronger than the average watering hole. .

Just made my first Old Fashioned for today- simple syrup, bitters, lots of ice, Woodford bourbon, orange slice and a Luxardo cherry, while watching the Kentucky Derby coverage. Forgot to buy mint leaves, so no Mint Julips.
