Last week I was watching a program that was praising the Old Fashioned. I realized that in all of my drinking years that I'd never had one. So, I set out to make some syrup, hunted down some bitters, bought a jug of whiskey and an orange. I mixed them all up in proper proportions, and.....
Blech! Awful. How do people drink these things. It tastes like old bubblegum.
I'll just finish the bottle with rocks and a splash of water like God intended and enjoy that.

Got to run out and pick up a little peppermint schnapps, or brandy to share with Santa. A wee bit for me, leave him the bottle.
ETA: I left a bottle of Glunz Family Winery Vin Glogg out for him; he didn't touch it or the cookies. I'll have a few glasses of it for him. This message has been edited. Last edited by: rat2306,

At the moment a Coppola Cabernet (one of my favorite cheap wines). One I finish dinner I'll switch over to a 15 year old George Dickel. I'm finally home for more than 5 hours for the first time in 4 days and I could use the drink.
Some sake. Rice grains polished down to 45%. Fruity and on the sweeter side. If only I could get sashimi here.....

Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, Sir Isaac's edition with my daughter/benefactor!
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown
